May 26, 200917 yr That they can't finish because they don't have the best closer in the game......:thumb: Closing has nothing to do with this series being 2-1 Orlando. The reason that this series is in Orlando's favor is because Orlando matches up really well with the Cavaliers. They play 2 6'10 Small Forwards that can both put the ball on the floor and go to the basket and can also shoot lights out. LeBron James guards one of them-usually Turkoglu-and Turkoglu has faired pretty well being guarded by a 1st Team All-NBA Defense. Anderson Varejao,who is a very solid post defender and never takes a play off has to guard an all-star in Rashard Lewis. Lewis is extremely versitile and can post you up, face up and put the ball on the floor and go to the basket as well as being able to shoot. This presents a problem for Varejao, as he is not very quick and gets taken out of his comfort zone-the paint-when having to defend Lewis. Then the older and very slow Zydrunas Ilgauskus has to guard Dwight Howard, who as we all know is the best big man in the NBA, extremely strong, quick and athletic this really presents a big problem for the Cavaliers. So what do the Cavs do? Do they start Ben Wallace in place of Z in order to stop Howard, or do they start Wallace for Varejao to stop Lewis? If they do either, they are pretty much playing 4 on 5 on offense due to Wallace's lack of offensive skills. The Cavaliers' problem has nothing to do with LeBron not being as good of a closer as Kobe Bryant, it has to do with the fact that they do not matchup with the Magic's front court. Take LeBron James off the Cavaliers and put Kobe Bryant on and they are probably in the exact same situation. Closing has nothing to do with this.

I think he means that when Kobe shows up in the fourth quarter some fans on here sing his praises from the top of a mountain. And when he doesn't it's not on him. Just from knowing CCC personally, that's what I gather from what he is saying. My stance stance on the whole best closer in the NBA. To me it's between five guys (in this order): Paul Pierce, Kobe, Dwyane Wade, Chauncey Billups and LeBron James. But it's a tight race IMO. A strong argument can be made for each.

No player in the history of the league could do what he's done this series, which is keep his pathetic team in the game. By pathetic I mean that they haven't showed up. Mo Williams? If he ever gets another all-star vote I will puke. Switch the two and put LBJ on the Lakers & Kobe on the Cavs, and you'll call neither a closer 1 because Cleveland would have already been out of the playoffs and the Lakers would have no team rival them in the NBA. And what I meant was that hold Kobe to the same standard you hold everyone else to. LeBron isn't a closer because of the end of game 3. Well then Kobe isn't a closer because of the end of games 2 and 4. Which isn't true, but the logic Kobe fans use to defend him when he is compared to other players is pathetic. Everything that is said in defense to Kobe is a reference from someone, someone's opinion. Give your own, I'm not impressed with what Skip Bayless or whoever. Kobe can close with the rest of them, but now that their calling him the closer is a joke. All big time players make plays at the end of games. All big time players take shots in the 4th quarter...ALL of them. Closer is all relative.

I've been watching the NBA for a long time and it is obvious Kobe elevates his game late in games unlike any other player. That is my own opinion, others just happen to have to same one because it's pretty obvious honestly.

May 27, 200917 yr Great game by the Orlando Magic great overtime period by Dwight Howard, he wants to be the next Shaq and he made strides tonight towards that, HUGE. I said the Cavs would sweep and that was my mistake, the Cavaliers just do not match up with the Magic that well, they made better adjustments in this game, playing small, but they still didn't adjust enough to pull it out. They shouldn't have had LeBron running the point in the overtime period when he was so effective posting up late in the fourth quarter. Good coaching job by SVG at the end of the game. Oh and please do not attempt to call me out, I'm not a Cavs fan, I picked them to win and wrote off the Magic; I'm recusing myself now. Whoever wins this series wins the NBA title IMO
