Many of the guards you mentioned are good players but other than Fucci I have not seen any of them that are better than the Hall kid from Franklin Co. He had good senior players around him in a team concept last season, but started the the year off by putting up 37 pts, 11 rebounds and 8 assists ina head-to-head match up with Chris Harrison against Trinity. (Game type Scrimmage at Anderson Co) Most of the successful pg's at the college level are able to put points on the board in high school.

 

The majority of those were on free throws so, although a nice effort, it was not as impressive as it looks and Harrison was undersized as a defender.

 

I would consider Hall to be more of a two guard than a point. I don't think he has the handles to run the point or the pass first point guard mentality. That being said, I think he has an excellent ability to finish at the hole and shows great strength for his size and I would see him having a chance to play at the next level.

All those guys IMO are solid PGs that will play pretty big college basketball (D-1, D-2, etc).

Haven't seen Fucci play so I can't include him on my list. Doesn't mean he's not as good as these guys but I'm not going to rank kids I've never seen play

 

In reality, I really don't care what numbers kids put up as a true point guard doesn't have to score, he has to do whatever his team needs to lead them to the W! This is why I think Chad Jackson is so good in that he will rebound, defend, and distribute the ball more than he looks to score. In fact, I would say that some very good players make average point guards as they aren't looking to involve the other players on their team. (Just one guys opinion!)

I don't know if I'd go that far yet. Hes very good, but I don't think hes as good yet as a few of the very best ones. Although he is on his way though.

Agree about the role of a PG. They can score but they should lead the team - be the floor general. Beckham does that, Justice does that and Fucci does that. I haven't seen it from Jackson. He does possess a lot of the intangibles but he isn't a strong leader all the time. If you haven't seen Fucci play, get out to see him over the next 6 weeks. He really can do it all - shoot, defend, drive, distribute, lead, create, rebound, dunk and whatever else you need. He can score 40 or 8, depending on what his team needs in a game. It will be interesting to see some of these guys develop over the next year or so.

Having spoken with someone whose opinion I trust, I would have to add Fucci to my list.:thumb:

You will hear more and more talk about Samsel from duPont Manual being a talent at the point. I know he isn't located in NKy but he should be listed as one of the better points in the state.

 

This past weekend at the Georgetown team camp Samsel has got the attention of a lot of people with his play at the point. Manual is 7-1 so far with out the services of their big center Aleks Nicolic (6' 10"). Samsel is averaging 23 pts a game with many assists.

 

Many of the coaches are talking about him because of his all around play. The new Oldham County coach said the kid is awesome. He put up 31 points against Henry Clay and played well against Scott County scoring 26 against a very good press for the whole game. The Georgetown asst coaches have attended most of his games and came away impressed with his play. They told Manual's asst coach Cole he is a player to watch.
