April 22, 200917 yr I didn't even know he was still playing. Not sure on the HOF. I suppose I'd have to see if there are comparable players in the hall right now. Personally, I don't think he is. But, that's based solely on what I think a HOFer should be. I'm almost certain that basketball, like all other sports, probably let more people in than they should. So, with that it mind, he might have a decent chance.
April 22, 200917 yr When I was in Atlanta a few years ago, Mutombo and his wife (I presume) were sitting next to me at a hotel. He stood up and it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. You never realize how tall 7+ ft is until you are next to it.

April 22, 200917 yr I think he deserves the Hall...he was one of the most dominant defenses forces for quite some time. It's a shame he couldn't bring home a championship ever.
April 22, 200917 yr Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo (his entire full name by the way) is a HOFer IMO with no question. How old is he anyway?? 97? He played on very bad teams throughout his career (Nuggets, Hawks, 76ers, Nets, Knicks & Bulls), something he had not much control over. The guy is one of the best defensive players in the history of the game. He's 2nd All-Time in the NBA in Blocks.
April 22, 200917 yr I'm not sure if he's a HOF'er. He's on the fence if there ever was one IMO. However, I did get to see him play in Cleveland about 10 years ago when they played the Hawks with him and Mokoie Blalock. Pretty cool to see the big man swatting shots like its nothing Edited April 22, 200917 yr by KyTiger89 edit
April 22, 200917 yr I just think of that big finger waiving when he blocks a shot. They say he is one of the best guys in the game off the court.
April 23, 200917 yr One of the best NBA players of all time off the court. Never heard a bad word about the guy. He had a pretty good career as well. Hate to see it end like that for him.
April 23, 200917 yr Something to keep in mind is that there is no NBA Hall of Fame. There is only the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame so all of his accomplishments in basketball, not just the NBA, will be considered.
April 23, 200917 yr A very good player and from what I've read, even a better humanitarian. I don't think he's HOF material.
