April 22, 200917 yr ESPN just reported it! X and CJ will enroll at Kansas. Jayhawks will be loaded next year, I look forward to watching them.
April 22, 200917 yr Author He's not a first round pick either. If you don't think Patterson is at least a first round pick, then...:puke::idunno:
April 22, 200917 yr Notice the "late." I have heard that the Knicks are looking at Patterson if they fall between 12-14. I'll admit I haven't looked but aren't the Knicks in the 6-9 range?
April 22, 200917 yr Author I'll admit I haven't looked but aren't the Knicks in the 6-9 range? Of the lottery, yes. But there is a drawing to place each teams. The top 14 teams draw to see who gets spots 1-14 in the draft. The teams with more losses have a higher chance at the top spot, and so on.

April 22, 200917 yr Author Not correct. The lottery is for the first 3 picks and then everything else falls in line based on record... Edit.
April 22, 200917 yr Author Not correct. The lottery is for the first 3 picks and then everything else falls in line based on record... Has this changed recently because it hasn't been like this for long? I believe each 14 teams has a chance at the top spot, but the chances decrease the further down the list you are.
April 22, 200917 yr Edit. After the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd picks are determined, the 4th-14th picks are assigned to teams based on weakness of record. Straight from NBA Lottery.
April 22, 200917 yr Author To determine the winner, fourteen ping pong balls numbered 1–14 are placed in a standard lottery machine and four balls are randomly selected from the lot. Just as in most traditional lotteries, the order in which the numbers are drawn is not important. That is, 1-2-3-4 is considered to be the same as 4-3-2-1. So although there is a total of 24 orders in which the balls numbered 1-2-3-4 can be picked, they are all treated as the same outcome. In doing this, the permutation of 4 balls from 14 becomes the combination of 4 balls from 14. That is, the total of 24,024 (14! / 10!, or 14x13x12x11) possible permutations is reduced by a factor of 24, to 1,001 combinations. Of these, 1 outcome is disregarded and 1,000 outcomes are distributed among the 14 non-playoff NBA teams. The combination 11-12-13-14 (in any order that those numbers are drawn) is not assigned and it is ignored if drawn; this has never occurred in practice.
April 22, 200917 yr Has this changed recently because it hasn't been like this for long? I believe each 14 teams has a chance at the top spot, but the chances decrease the further down the list you are. It has always been like that. The worst team gets the most ping pong balls, and they do a lottery for the top 3 spots...
April 22, 200917 yr From what I have been told and have not seen with my own eyes, is that Patrick Patterson is licking his chops at the opportunity of playing for Coach Cal and being used in practice in a way that will greatly enhance his professional stock. That includes playing a role facing the basket and shooting mid-range jump shots. Lots of work on going left and using his left hand. My guess is Coach Cal has Patrick and his family convinced that regardless of where he might fall in the NBA draft of 2009, he can improve on that with a year of coaching and playing for UK. I believe this to be the case as well.
April 22, 200917 yr Not correct. The lottery is for the first 3 picks and then everything else falls in line based on record... Yep so the Knicks have a better chance to move into the top 3 than they do falling back a spot or two. Conspiracy theory is they get Griffin w/ the one this year and Lebron has a big guy to play w/ him and D Wade in 2010.
