Ryan Timmons will be one of the best Freshman in the state next year, he played at Elkhorn Middle School and was going to attend Franklin County. But not sure what he is doing now since the coaching change.

I'm a believer of the weight room, to an extint. A lot of it just boils down to whether you can play or you can't. Period. For example, the 4 best football players that I ever played with, high school and college combined, never touched a weight; and it wasn't that they were exactly ridiculously talented, either. A couple of them had really good speed, a couple others didnt, none were overly strong either----but, all four of them could just flat out play. And, that's what matters.

Not true. I know 2 8th graders playing Freshman football at Highlands.

They cannot play or even practice with the varsity team as an 8th grader. They can play and practice with the frosh, but no contact with varsity players.

Incomming Freshman- Bell County's got alot of potential. Corey Oslonian participated in the middle school all american game, and was very impressive playing out of position. Jonathan Polly was named to the all tournament team in the middle school state championship tourney.

Current Freshman- Corey Davenport stands out the most for Bell Co. If he lives up to his potential, could be a very, very special player.

I didnt know if we were talking incomming freshman, or current. So I included both for Bell Co.

Just a little theory of mine with the whole lifting weights issue. How is lifting weights young, any different than working on a farm, bailing hay, pinning down pigs, etc? That's resistance training. I know it is a little off topic, but I think if kids have done that for centuries, I'm sure bench press, squat, and deadlifting won't hurt them.

At younger ages, lower weights with more reps are okay as it like you say, just resistance training. But if the weight is too heavy, the ligaments and tendons, which are still developing, can be damaged. The problem is that often, these young kids want to be able to lift what the big boys lift and overdo it.

Here is a name you will hear alot about years to come. Juan Jones of Christian County. I've have teach 15 years in the elementary system and have had several kids go on to play college ball at several sports. Juan jones is by far the best athlete ever to come threw Christian County in many years. Last week at Weight lifting practice (8th grader now) he benched 220, squat 340, power clean 250, 4.65 forty, 35 vertical jump, and 4.2 in the pro shuttle. He is only about 5'7 weighs around 160. Good kid whos dad was a great player in the early 90"s who last a heart breaker to st.X in the semis. Will play RB and DB for the colonels.

You teach school for real? Wow! Jones sounds like a real deal for the future.

I hear Bryan Station has a dynamite RB, small but mighty and runs like the wind. His name is Harrington, I believe. Anyone know anything about him?

I saw McCreary Central goning through their passing drills and Tyson Williams has been very impressive. He is 6' 4" 240, runs well and catches the football.
