April 28, 201214 yr Grew up on Pasquales and Schneiders and my family used to own the Bistro. My moms chicken salad was the best in the área. Jeff, the new owner has Great Food but nothing will touch that grape, walnut chicken salad. We love Buena Vita as Well in Dayton. Great service and quality Food. Is Buena Vita located in the Old Bank of Dayton Building ? And as long as I have been on this earth they have been iceballs .
April 28, 201214 yr My parents did. Is that a Covington term? I grew up in Covington as well. Lewisburg area, St. John's parish.
April 28, 201214 yr Ice balls! Ever had with ice cream in the middle? Never had one until I tried it at Schneiders. Pretty good.
April 28, 201214 yr Ice balls! Ever had with ice cream in the middle? Only at Schneider's . Outstanding.
April 28, 201214 yr Ice balls! Ever had with ice cream in the middle? Wasn't there a place down in Newport that had those too? Ann's, I think? I want to say on 9th street? Between Monmouth and York.
April 28, 201214 yr The guy (Ezra) who founded Skinny Legs is the same guy who founded Zola's and the area renowned Zola burger. It would be nice for Bellevue to develop into a real cool location to hang out for lunch and especially dinner. The avenue has a very cool feel. I am thinking that he now owns the Hayloft in Alexandria and just opened another place in Highland Heights - Blue something is the name. Great burgers at the Hayloft and at the 915 in Ft. Thomas which he previously owned I think!

Great burgers at the Hayloft and at the 915 in Ft. Thomas which he previously owned I think! Same guy, he opens them, than flips them over to his partner. Is Blue buffalo the name of the new one at the old winners, bambooz, and many others. Horrible location ever since 471 came through and notorious for being a sipped trap thru there.
April 28, 201214 yr Wasn't there a place down in Newport that had those too? Ann's, I think? I want to say on 9th street? Between Monmouth and York. There was an Ann's around 9th? Also there is the sweet tooth on 10th which is related to the Bellevue Schnieders ice cream.
April 28, 201214 yr Only at Schneider's . Outstanding. I wish Kona Ice would add ice cream. I'd be all over it.
April 29, 201214 yr Is Buena Vita located in the Old Bank of Dayton Building ? And as long as I have been on this earth they have been iceballs . Yep...they're in the old bank.

Couple of my friends from Campbell County absolutely love the iceballs from this place. I've been drug down there more than once. Good stuff, but is it just me or is it hard to mess up an iceball? And, I'm one of those guys who grew up calling them sno-cones. They were a summer time swim club staple.

I think a lot depends on the syrup they use. I have had ice balls that were barely edible. Ann's ice ball with ice cream was the best. Using the term ice balls is more accurate because I don't think any of them were made out of snow.

I recently was speaking with the owner Sweet Tooth. He was talking about ice balls and that the key for them is making the ice balls from block ice. However, he got his block ice from Dusings and now Dusings is no longer making block ice. He said the block ice makes a difference.
