April 30, 201214 yr Grew up on Pasquales and Schneiders and my family used to own the Bistro. My moms chicken salad was the best in the área. Jeff, the new owner has Great Food but nothing will touch that grape, walnut chicken salad. We love Buena Vita as Well in Dayton. Great service and quality Food. The first time I saw Arby's advertising chicken salad sandwiches with things that don't belong I about lost it. Where does this idea of walnuts and grapes in chicken salad come from? I know chicken salad first as something I never liked, but more importantly something that was simply, and only, chicken, hard-boiled eggs, pickles and mayo. Is there some regional line I'm missing out on on this dish?

My wife always has walnuts and grapes in the chicken salad, and anymore most restaurants also do the same. You should try it. It's tasty.
April 30, 201214 yr Drive about a half mile down Fairfield to Dayton and go to Buono Vita's. Outstanding pizza. Pasquale's is OK. This pizza is REALLY good. I agree with you 100%. Buono Vita's has excellent pizza. One of my very favorites in this area. Everyone should give it a try.
May 11, 201214 yr There was an Ann's around 9th? Also there is the sweet tooth on 10th which is related to the Bellevue Schnieders ice cream.
May 12, 201214 yr I had Buona Vita tonight and it was very good and well priced. Beers are a little expensive.

May 12, 201214 yr I enjoyed Siam Orchid. Heard the stray cat and dog population is non-existent in that area of town.
May 12, 201214 yr I recently was speaking with the owner Sweet Tooth. He was talking about ice balls and that the key for them is making the ice balls from block ice. However, he got his block ice from Dusings and now Dusings is no longer making block ice. He said the block ice makes a difference. And apprantely there is more to making ice balls than meets the eye. Seriously, quality ice does seem to make sense, since it is the main ingredient.
May 12, 201214 yr I think a lot depends on the syrup they use. I have had ice balls that were barely edible. Ann's ice ball with ice cream was the best. Using the term ice balls is more accurate because I don't think any of them were made out of snow. And yet the world still calls it a hamburger, even though there's no ham. I think I'm okay calling them sno-cones and everyone will get the jist. I doubt the cat behind the counter would start looking for drifts when I placed my order.
May 12, 201214 yr And in 3,2,1,....someone is going to have the bright idea to tell me a hamburger is named after Hamburg, the city. Dude, I know. But, did I make my point? What's in a name.

May 14, 201214 yr I tried to order Bueno Vita yesterday (Sunday) only to find out that they're closed on Sundays.
May 14, 201214 yr I tried to order Bueno Vita yesterday (Sunday) only to find out that they're closed on Sundays. ...and Mondays.
May 15, 201214 yr On Bueno Vita, anyone have any links to reviews on the place? Not that I distrust the raves the place has gotten here, but Polly Campbell with the Enquirer is golden to me. If she has been there and given it a thumbs up, I'm in. If not, I'm probably still in, but it's a bit out of the way. I do like Italian.
