April 17, 200917 yr Don't see why some are not happy for this young man. He is getting the chance to be apart of a good D-I team, and get a good education. I am sure he has learned from his mistakes at Georgetown and will make the most of this opportunity. Look forward to keeping up with this young man and his college career. Best of luck Trevor.:thumb: :thumb::thumb:
April 17, 200917 yr What is the difference between a walk on and a preferred walk on? Like Racer said, it's a promised roster spot, it also helps build a pipeline to the school so that if in the future someone from the that school-Mason in this instance-will possibly consider that college because someone else from their school will have played there.

Thanks , I like the term "recuited walk on" better. Also like Richie Phares of Scott Co walking on at U of L. There could possibably be some upcoming players that U of L may be interested in.

Just don't see how a kid at Maysville Community College who hasn't played ball for what, 2 years? can walk onto a major Division 1 school. Not a question of being happy for the young man but confusion on the part of Travis Ford and OSU.

That doesn't mean that Trevor hasn't been working on his game though.
April 18, 200917 yr A bit surprising to say the least! However, I think it is a tremendous opportunity and wish him the very best!
April 18, 200917 yr Surprising? Yes. But never the less, any time a player from Ky. gets the chance to play at the next level, I am glad to hear it. Congrats to Mr. Setty and good luck.
April 18, 200917 yr He isn't near good enough for OK State and the Big 12.. Please explain. For a walk-on, he's good enough.
April 18, 200917 yr Trevor is a very good player, I'm surprised at all of the negativity. I hope he proves some of you wrong.
April 18, 200917 yr Look for him to be a situational player. Lots of teams can use a 6'8" kid that can shoot the three; the thing for Trevor is to get that shot.

Not a question of being happy for the young man but confusion on the part of Travis Ford and OSU.[/quote'] This article only says he was invited for a visit to OK, but here is what the paper says: http://www.maysville-online.com/arti...8480575544.txt Last paragraph of the editorial. What's next, Jarrod Litzinger and Wes Jones walk at North Carolina.:ohbrother: Yes this opportunity seems strange, but sometimes connections help. Several years ago GRC had a football player, he was good, but didn't get many offers. He went to Ohio and worked for 2 years. He came back in January and told our coach he wanted a shot at playing college ball. Coach Joyce told him to get in shape and in the spring he would talk to Roy Kidd at Eastern. In the spring Kidd took him as a walkon....the next year he got a full ride....now he is playing for the Miami Dolphins...Mi Mi Bell. Connections helps, I hope Trevor makes the most of this opportunity.
April 19, 200917 yr Look for him to be a situational player. Lots of teams can use a 6'8" kid that can shoot the three; the thing for Trevor is to get that shot. OK St. carried 16 players on their roster during 08-09 season. The bottom 6 players played a total of 36 minutes. That's out of a total of 7050 minutes. I don't think situational is the correct term here. Good luck to Mr. Setty, hopefully he will get some court time out there.
