Joh Chaney comes out of retirement.

Speak of the Devil...

What did he say?

He was talking about UK tradition. He made it sound like UK was a horrible job, and it was because of the EKY fans and people. There was some degrading term placed in front of "Eastern Kentucky Fans"

All UK fans are overboard at times about their team, but you know how the media will play it if they can. People in the press thing that those of US from EKY are hilly-billy, uneducated people in straw hats, overalls and no shoes. I don't remember what all Gottleib said, but it was degrading to EKY and all of fine people who live here. He probably didn't think that any of us knew how to work XM or Satellite radio.

Then again it's just my opinion, you may have heard it and thought what he said was fine.

I can very well see Avery Johnson or maybe even Jeff Van Gundy coming out of the pro ranks...or a name we haven't seen on the sideline but was a good recruiter at UCLA in Steve Lavin...I am not real clear on why he has not received a coaching job anywhere else (i.e any skeletons in his closet)

Lavin could be a good call...at least he has the hair mousse for it.

As far as Carlissimo, it seems he has the resume as described, I am not familiar enough with him to know if he can smooze the way you need to at Memphis (they are similar to UK in that respect). The head basketball coach at U. Memphis is probably the highest profile person in the entire city. The person coming in has to appeal and unify the various interests..city interests, suburban interests and business interests to be successful. Coach Cal will be a tough act to follow, but someone will.

I'm from eastern part of the state and I will agree that there are some great people who live in that area, but at the same time I heard horrible things come out of people's mouth about Tubby.

I'll just throw out a couple names....

Mark Gottfried

Dave Leito

Sidney Lowe (many assume he's out at NCState)

Dennis Felton

Mike Davis

Tim Floyd

There are idiots everywhere. Not just Eastern Kentucky.

Halfback,

Yes, my picture is photoshopped.

Saw an article on another board, said Memphis was targetting Pitino and Pearl.

(I laughed out loud.)

^I wouldn't be laughing too hard just yet.

They're willing to offer Pitino's son the job when he would retire from what I've read....That's something Rick would consider.

Sorry, but I strongly disagree. He hated CUSA, he would not go back there under any circumstance. Richard will be fine, most think he will be the head man at Boston U. Give a couple of years up there, and he will move on to bigger things. Maybe even taking over UofL one day. Pitino has enough connections not to worry about setting Richard up.

Maybe an assistant coach step in as interm coach, trying not to rush the process.

I understand the skepticism about Pitino, but Pearl......

Yeah, I was referring to Pitino. Pearl would fit in nice there, but it would be a downgrade right now, the cupboard is full at UT.
