March 31, 200917 yr Bozich is on board. Former Memphis coach John Calipari is coming to Kentucky -- and he's starting the job by reaching out to former UK coaches. Minutes ago, Calipari called former UK coach Joe B. Hall to talk about the Kentucky job and the Kentucky tradition. "That was awfully nice of him," said Hall, who coached UK to the 1978 NCAA title. "Coach Cal is a hot item. He's a great coach as well as a superior recruiter. His track record speaks for itself. I think Kentucky was looking to do something dramatic in the face of all that has gone down." I've been told that Calipari intends to speak with several other former Kentucky coaches, including Eddie Sutton and Tubby Smith. No word on whether his phone call list with include Rick Pitino or Billy Gillispie. link

March 31, 200917 yr After much searching through this thread, I found it in post #1. Someone must have made another thread.
March 31, 200917 yr Author After much searching through this thread, I found it in post #1. To be fair.. this was 3 different posts. Of course, I linked it in the "this afternoon" thread before any of them.
March 31, 200917 yr This is a very smart move if he is coming. Contact those who have been a major part of the tradition at UK and get them on board with you. This is something that Billy Clyde should have done, and Calipari is showing his smart public relations skills by doing this. Very smart.

March 31, 200917 yr Author You shall be honored appropriately. Sweet! I don't think I've started any threads in this whole mess. I'm glad to have something to look back on!
March 31, 200917 yr Joe B says Cal did not say one way or the other which way he was leaning. He says Cal wanted to establish a relationship in case he decided to take the position. Joe B told him UK is a "step up" in his career.
March 31, 200917 yr I hope he don't ask Joe B to much. Joe should have won a couple more titles with the talent he had.
