What do you think of the Ford Edge?

Featured Replies

Thinking of buying a Ford Edge for my wife.

Does anyone drive one? I'd like to hear pros and cons.

Why is it a better choice? What does it have that the Edge doesn't?

The Traverse is roomier and has more cargo space. The base price for the Traverse is about $7,000 more than the Ford Edge. If you get both of them "loaded," you know, CD player, power seats, windows, sunroof, etc. then the base price is about $3,000 more for the Traverse ($43,000).

I believe the Traverse comes with sidecurtain airbags, the Edge does not.

Personally, I like driving the Chevy Traverse more than the Ford Edge (work at Enterprise) but here, just look at this comparison chart:

I looked at one 2 years ago when I bought my Santa Fe . I thought that it was tinny and didn't have as many options as the Santa Fe had for a comparable price . But then that is me I have never been a Ford man always bought Chrysler or GM until I bought the Hyundai .

If you want a 3rd row go Traverse.

The Ford Flex is more the direct competitor.

I have drove both but in limited time.

I will say that Fords quality control is heads above GMs at this point.

Small. I am a little over 6' and had real headroom issues. If I were looking at that size SUV it'd be Mercedes GLK

I have rented one a couple of times for work. They weren't bad but wouldn't buy one. I didn't think they were very comfortable.

Cars.com and you can get all the info you want. I have researched my last three cars on there, you can read all the experts reviews. I like the Edge but got a better deal that I couldn't pass up on another SUV. I had to drive to Indy to check it out and it was worth it.

The Ford Edge is really sharp and drives very well. I have an '08 Expedition and I absolutely love it--and I never thought I would drive a Ford. The Chevy Traverse and the GM Acadia are both very nice vehicles, too. Also, in 2010 the Lincoln MKT is debuting--it shares its platform with the Flex but is more upscale. Early reviews are very good.

Have driven the 09 Traverse's and they are very nice. I'd go that route before the Edge, but I'm not a fan of Ford so...

What does you wife want?
She wants and Edge, doesn't even want to test drive anything else. I want her to shop around a bit before deciding.

What's the sticker on the Edge?

I work for a dealer that sells both. Quality wise Ford is way above Chevy right now. Traverse is a bigger vehicle. If your wife is basically on her own she will love the Edge. 95% of all Edge's we have sold are to women. The sync in the Ford product is a lot better than Onstar. Sync works through bluetooth of your cell and Onstar has to be purchased.
