March 28, 200917 yr 1. John Calipari - Give Mitch a lifetime contract. This is the hire that they need to be winners. Calipari won't just "win," he will win and win big. 2. Billy Donovan - Finally got'em. I think this could be Kentucky's Roy Williams. His recruiting should continue to get better and his reputation is what Kentucky needs. 3. Tom Izzo - We knew we had to get a big-name coach and we got him. If he makes the Final Four this year, every player that stays four years at his school has made it to the Final Four. Great, great coach. Very good recruiter. The style of play? Ehhh. 4. Travis Ford - Barnhart blew it. Would Ford get any consideration if he wasn't a "Kentucky boy?" 5. Bob Knight - Great coach, and I am really surprised he came. Don't know that's the way I would have went. 6. John Pelphrey - Umm... 7. Sean Miller - Wow, a great young coach. However, I'm surprised Barnhart took the chance on another up-and-comer. 8. Jamie Dixon - Big-time hire. Great record. His teams stick around their entire career. A good recruiter and emphasizes defense. I am indifferent on this hire. 9. Jay Wright - Style of play, demeanor, and recruiting are very nice. Don't know if his system would work in the SEC, but still a big-time hire. 10. Rick Barnes - His recruiting and southern draw would be huge hits in Kentucky, but his coaching ability is a bit questionable. Still a big-time hire.
