March 26, 200917 yr If Donovan leaves the school without cause, he must pay the school $500,000. If the school fires Donovan without cause, he receives $2.5 million for every year left on his contract. This is big time -- and it could have caused the 16-month holdup. If the Gators were to fire Donovan in two years, he'd receive around $7.5 million. This shows the Gators are serious about Donovan's stability. However, there's a window from March 1 to April 1 of any year when both parties can walk away clean, no monetary issues. Interesting. A free window for Kentucky?

March 26, 200917 yr Author If Donovan leaves the school without cause, he must pay the school $500,000. Thats not much and any school would pay this for him. Agreed. That's a very cheap buyout for other schools.
March 26, 200917 yr The one month window is interesting. No monetary payout from either side if he leaves in the window from March 1 - April 1. That is very interesting. I guess that window is there so that IF he were to leave, the incentive is to leave ASAP so that the search for a successor will get underway as soon as the season is over.

For a coach who has spent the last 2 years in the NIT. So one recruiting class makes this the guy UK has to get. Tubby beat him like a drum, prior to his great class and his great ASSISTANT coach, that has now left him.
March 26, 200917 yr Bradley Hughes already has a check written to the University of Flordia for $500,000. :jump: That was a joke please don't quote me on that I have no sources to back it up............
March 26, 200917 yr That $500,000 is one hour's worth of afternoon work at any Horse farm in Lexington. Small patatos people....

March 26, 200917 yr That window tells me that he asked for that just in case a job opened that interested him. Or the AD asked for it so he had enough time early to find a replacement. No way to know for sure. To me this tells me Foley is confident in him not wanting to go anywhere. Otherwise there would be no chance there is anything in there with a $0 exit clause.

I respect your opinion, but I think it is to give the University a quick answer to find a replacement as soon as possible if this were to happen. Donovan would lose a $400,000 loyalty bonus if he leaves.
