FINALLY!!!!!! I think just about everyone on BGP is overjoyed that this game is finally here. It is put up or shut up time. Although....whoever wins this, we will hear about it more than ever.

If I were designing a team to beat Holmes, it would be EC with one exception - more depth. EC's playing style is what you need to beat Holmes - high tempo, good shooters. They need to push that ball up court, even after baskets, get to their spots and take shots before Holmes gets set on D. If they don't get a good early look, the challenge for EC will be patience and taking good shots when they get in the half court game. Then of course, the key question is will EC have the legs in game three on day three to keep shooting well. NO EXCUSES!!! If EC does not shoot well tomorrow it will almost surely be because of lack of depth and/or Holmes' defense. It will not be just because they had an off night. It is too far into the season and too important a game to go there. The other wild card I will throw out there is foul trouble. EC can not afford to have anyone get into foul trouble. EC can do it but they will need their best effort to make it happen.

I am heartsick that I can not be at this game but other commitments prevent me from being there. I will have to hope to see it on tape sometime. Best of luck to both teams. Officials, please take the peas out of those whistles and let them play. I am rooting for a well played game from both and let's settle this year long debate once and for all. Play ball!!

For the third straight... I am not taking a guess at this game. I do know that I am going to do EVERYTHING just as I have for the past two nights.

If Holmes playes like they did in the first half--bragging rights.

Elliott is capable.

Either way, a big "Thank You" to all the teams. It's been a good tourney!

GO ELLIOTT!

Well, here is the classic David vs Goliath. Holmes with the tall, athletic team that seemingly cannot be defeated; Elliott with a short, not very athletic team that is nothing but a collection of smart, pure basketball players. Polar opposites really. When looking at the matchup intelligently this is by all appearences a mis-match; how could this group from Elliott possibly defeat mighty Holmes?

I'm only going to say to not dismiss this pride of lions from Elliott too quickly. They've played together so long that they're a well-oiled machine; they know where each other is going to be on the floor at all times without thinking about it. The will to win by both the players and the Elliott community is a truly magical thing. Whether this is enough to overcome this mighty Holmes team we'll find out in the morning, but never count them out.

Maybe, just maybe, David will find his mark again.

Good try to make this a classic mismatch & David vs. Goliath, but reality is this will be a close game; but my guess is the superior depth of Holmes will trump the "magic" of the Lions. Coach Mays lack of interest in developing a bench in favor of lopsided victories vs. overmatched opponents, will come back to haunt a career group of kids for Elliott--Holmes by 10!!

This is not David vs. Goliath at all. Both teams are very capable.

Holmes is well rested after easily taking care of LexCath. Elliott will exhaust every bit of heart they have left or come up little short on Saturday morning. Holmes should win this game by 10 to 15 points with the help of their overwhelming athleticism. I, for one, will be be cheering a great group of Elliott Kids to victory. This is exactly the reason why there is no Class system in KHSAA B-ball. Stories like this do not otherwise exist.

Their athleticism isn't that overwhelming. If they get a dunk and celebrate, Elliott will be shooting a 3-pointer on the other end. I'll repeat, this Elliott team is very legit and if they are shooting well, Holmes will have their hands full tomorrow morning.

True, Holmes shoud be well rested, especially Pittman. Johnson's will do their thing as usual, but again, I believe Pittman will be a huge factor one way or another. He and Riley play well, Holmes should win.

From what I have seen, Holmes has a habit of letting a team shoot 3's all they want. Will they let Elliott stand out there and shoot until they find their stroke? Holmes has used maybe 2 guys off the bench extensively, Rice and Housely. Other than that, how are Holmes' legs also? I think Elliott will have a hard time rebounding against Holmes, but anyone at the tourney has seen that Holmes also struggles against the press. This game will be very interesting and I look forward to getting the opportunity to see not only this game, but the chance to watch both teams one more time. If Holmes plays the way they did in the 1st half, no one touches them, but Elliott is way better than Catholic and if tomorrow is an up and down game, who knows what may happen.

Based on everything I have read on here, the Faulkners and Ferguson have seen and played against the same type of length and athleticism before. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

If they run with Elliott, they will lose. If they allow Elliott to shoot open 3's, they will lose.

I can see that happening, Wireman. I haven't seen enough of both teams to accurately predict what will happen, but I think it will be a game of runs with free throw percentage deciding the winner.

I'm really pulling for Elliot to win the whole thing this year. I just have a hard time seeing them get by Holmes on such short rest.

I have a feeling all the running they do is starting to catch up with them.

I really hope they can pull this one out, I just don't see it.

I worry about Elliott's legs, but Holmes really struggled against defensive pressure. I can't wait to see how the game turns out tomorrow.
