I think Central would stand the best chance, but certainly they have a shot.

I do think Elliott County would be the best matchup for the upper bracket winner, mainly due to their draw, playing the late game every time and the fact that they only play 5 guys for the most part. Fatigue could be a huge factor at that point for a team that plays fast like EC and relies on jump shooting. Dead legs typically don't keep the nets hot.

If Holmes makes it, the upper bracket winner is going to have a really tough time. I'm not sure WJ would even have a chance to win that game, but I do think Central would.

Here's how I'd rate the upper bracket's chances for W...

1. Central vs. EC

2. WJ vs. EC

3. Central vs. Holmes

Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance. ...

I was not impressed with Elliott County, if the same Holmes team that played the first half plays the whole game tomorrow, it wont be close. Holmes by 15.

Wow, that's really going out on a limb ! That was Holmes' best half all year and I doubt any team would have been ahead of them in the first half. However their second half of play was more typical of the norm for them, so if they play the whole game like they did the second half, your right..........it won't be close.

From what I saw tonight Holmes can only beat theirselves tomorrow. Elliott just wasn't that impressive and it seemed that Ethan had a lot of trouble getting the ball up the court.

If Holmes comes with there "A" game then they win this one by 12+, and I think even if they are just a little off they still pull out the win by 5 or more.

Absolutely. If I've learned anything from the Sweet 16 and March Madness, it's this. You've always got a chance...

If today's games are any indication, Holmes should roll.....they looked like a well oiled machine tonight.

For the last time in this four year run by our wonderful Elliott County boys, we are the underdog. All I can say, and the feeling I am getting, is "Hoosiers."

It's kinda funny. Holmes and Elliott County was all people wanted to talk about before.

Now that they're finally about to play, EC's game ends late Friday night and they play in about 12-14 hours, so there is hardly any prime BGP time to discuss and build this game up.

Ah, the irony. It's a good thing we had that hypothetical thread to break this one down beforehand.

I think West Jess has a legit shot. Reason... Central was up sky high for Eastern who is a big rival. I see a let down from Central and a little Saturday morning magic at the Sweet 16. West Jess by 3. Polson will come up BIG.

Sorry to bust the dream about "Hoosiers" but Covington Holmes is far from a large school, not even by EKy standards.....

BTW did you know that Milan, Ind (the school that the movie was really about) is not really all that far from NKy!

The Real Hoosiers

Rather good reading, if you have the time!

Holmes does not press like Shelby Valley. If you watched the Lex Cath game, when Catholic was patient they got a good look (did not make it unfortunately) inside and outside. Holmes will have a tough one tomorrow. Down to the wire, will take Elliott in this one.

Good Luck to both teams, what an accomplishment to get this far for both teams!!

Holmes by 14. Elliott only plays 5 guys and has no depth. When you have to play back-to-back games you have to have contributions from the bench. Holmes is more athletic and will wear them down. Go Dogs!

Well, here is the classic David vs Goliath. Holmes with the tall, athletic team that seemingly cannot be defeated; Elliott with a short, not very athletic team that is nothing but a collection of smart, pure basketball players. Polar opposites really. When looking at the matchup intelligently this is by all appearences a mis-match; how could this group from Elliott possibly defeat mighty Holmes?

I'm only going to say to not dismiss this pride of lions from Elliott too quickly. They've played together so long that they're a well-oiled machine; they know where each other is going to be on the floor at all times without thinking about it. The will to win by both the players and the Elliott community is a truly magical thing. Whether this is enough to overcome this mighty Holmes team we'll find out in the morning, but never count them out.

Maybe, just maybe, David will find his mark again.
