Would love to see a mountain team in the finals, my preference is Elliott---but I realize it is a "tough row to hoe!"

I don't know. I'll give you that Elliott Co's O is better, but IMO Holmes D is better.

I'm rooting for either Central or Grayson County!!! After that, Eastern.

Elliott plays no where near the defense of Holmes and that's evident by their scores. Elliott gives up almost 60 ppg.

 

Holmes on the year is giving up just 46 ppg and throughout the postseason are only giving up an average of 34 ppg.

 

Elliott will have to play defense if they want to beat a team like Holmes. They won't be able to run and gun against them and Holmes won't press which will force them to run half court offense which isn't their strength against teams with good size. (See Cedar Hill and Shelby Valley)

Alright Les, you're going to like this, I'm picking Corbin. All they have to do is get past that first game against Eastern and it should be smooth sailing to the title game where I'm thinking they will have more legs than the teams battling it out in the lower bracket. If Corbin does happen to lose to Eastern then they would be my 2nd pick.

If Shelby Valley can hit their free throws, and not wait until the 2nd half to catch fire as they did two of their regional games, they could very well take it all.

How many of them have tournament experience? I too would love to see this game and see which is better, elliot county's offense or holmes defense. Would make a great game

Okay , just another comment, just because Holmes defense is averaging 46 ppg and Elliott offense is scoring like 80+ ppg doesn't mean that both teams aren't good on the other end of the court. Those numbers are going to mean nothing next week and if these two teams play I would expect a score somewhere in the mid 60s for both teams in a close/great game.

I guess I would pick Holmes.

 

I think they will give Elliott Co match up trouble with how big and strong they are.

 

Depends on which team can impose their will and dictate tempo.

 

Besides that, this game would take place on Saturday morning. Both of these teams will have to win two tough games because the bottom bracket is loaded.

 

Elliott would have to beat Anderson County and Shelby Valley/Mason County.

 

FWIW, during the season Elliott played all three of those teams. The handled Mason County pretty easily at home (86-71). However, the other two were on neutral courts, and they only beat Anderson County by 4 and they lost to Shelby Valley.

 

The Lions better worry about Anderson County and then their next opponent or the only look they'll get at Holmes will be with the rest of the spectators.

 

Same goes for Holmes...Christian County is a tough opener and then they get the LexCath/Bowling Green winner.

Holmes because of their athletes and good defense, but it will be a hard road for any lower bracket team.

When the dust settles, I think Holmes will be cutting the nets down.
