He is a leader in every way that you would want a young man to be. He is active in his church, takes all AP classes, has a very high GPA, I could just go on and on. Don't know if you noticed...I did...at the end of the game Tuesday, he had a wide open lay up , instead he pass the ball to Christian Brewer...who had just entered the game. So he could score during the regional tourney. This was his last chance to score as a Card, as his career was ending. Instead he passed to his team mate. He is just a very classy kid.

 

I saw this very nice thing he did.

Robert Hatton has been a very good ball player for the Cardinals. He has been a starter for the last three years and will be greatly missed. Experience is something that is very hard to replace. Robert was a great three point shooter, had the ability to drive to the basket either scoring or drawing the foul. He was also a very good free throw shooter. He averaged over 16 points per game this year and also played good defense and had a lot of steals. He is an excellent student with a perfect 4point standing. He never got all the recognition he deserved .He has made his parents, family and GRC very proud. I wish him the best.:ylsuper:

Very well stated. He is a great kid on and off the court and I have greatlly enjoyed his last three years as a Card. He will be greatly missed by the GRC faithful.

If they asked me about the venue...sure I would have discussed it with them. You took out of context what I said. Saying that who won the game didn't matter...in what we were discussing....the venue of the BOK. Totally different subject. Yes the subject of the conversation had changed from congratulating them on the win to having the 10th region at the BKO.

Well I am sure that could probably happen sometime down the road, like right now:eek:, as I will have to agree with you on Robert Hatton- he was solid the entire tournament until they stopped passing him the ball in the title game. Seemed like a very heady and classy kid as I noticed the last possession as well. There you go GS, I agree with you. He will be a hard one to replace in that lineup and I think you will see Stenzel have to work double time to get what he gets from this point on because of not having Hatton on the court.

As a Mason Co. fan my entire life, a very small percentage of folks in Mason County want the tourney anywhere but the Fieldhouse. Call it what you want selfishness, greed, etc. I honestly don't think anyone cares what outsiders think.

Why do you think we want it at the Fielhouse?

 

1. Pride of our program, gym, and community

2. Revenue

3. Memories of the past and wanting similar memories in the future

4. We are a stubborn bunch (see BGP and Chris Lofton to Tenn. situation)

 

BOK is a beautiful arena, but by just looking at the pictures posted there is 0 chance that it had as much atmosphere as the Fieldhouse (to at least a Royals fan).

 

 

What I have seen from many posts from Mason County fans, while passionate about their team, they fail to realize there are many other teams out there in the 10th. Teams and fans that have to travel every year, play in Mason's home court, dodge the deer on the back roads, and sit in "hard on the back side" seats. I grew up in the 9th, 10 years ago they shipped some Northern Kentucky teams into the 10th. They have adapted to change. Change is not always good, but change is inevitable. Deal with it.

:scared: Hey we do agree on something....:lol: Thanks for the kind words about Robert,as I said before he is such a great young man. Yes we will really miss him next year, as all of our seniors.

I didn't hear any Mason fans complaining about the drive but I did hear them complain about the traffic. Many sat outside for 30+ minutes trying to get into the parking lot because there was no syncronization to the traffic lights. A policeman directing traffic could have easily solved this problem. Several missed most if not all of the 1st quarter of the game. If you noticed the band came in really late and barely made tip off. This problem could be eliminated by releasing school a little early. Of course I responded to anyone that I heard complain about getting to the game late by saying don't worry about it. You saw the best half of the game anyway!

 

I must say that I'm suprised that there were Mason County fans out in the concession area after the game. Most I saw were still in the gym watching the team cut down the nets.

 

I have no doubts that Robert Hatton is a good kid but there are several teams who also have "good" kids. I have it on good authority that Middleton, Downing and Hamm all spend part of their day at MCTC taking college classes. This should say something about their academic achievements as well. It is great to see so many good kids taking advantage of athletics and academics. So many times people get caught up in sports and forget the reason why these kids have the opportunity to compete in tournaments such as this to begin with. I still feel that a 2 hour drive to a ballgame on a SCHOOL night should not happen no matter who the school is. Especially when all the 11th grade students had to take the state mandated ACT the next day. So much for the test scores.:ohbrother:

IMO, the tournament should begin on a Wednesday and end on Saturday. The regional finals on a Tuesday night just doesn't seem right.

Couldn't agree with you more!!! :thumb: I really wouldn't mind seeing the 10th and 11th region finals paired together at Memorial. We didn't stay to see the 9th region finals so that we could come home and watch the end of the 11th.

I would rather see grass grow than that..Back some time ago during the regionals , we would start on Wed afternoon, Have one game, clear the gym , go eat and come back for the night game. Do the same on Thurs to end the first round. On Fri, semis and finals Sat night. That's what I enjoyed.
