Also, I neglected to mention, besides the losses the Royals suffered from graduaton, what a way to overcome the adversity of the loss to start the year, the lady passing out at Scott County, the three free throws against Clark the first time around, and the way-laying by Elliott in Sandy Hook. Also, the adversity caused by injuries that saw four of their five starters miss games this year. Just a focused team that finally pulled it together tonight in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Congrats again!

Based on my observations of the Bluegrass-Buckeye games at the BOKC and my experiences from having played at the Cintas Center and attending Ohio Sectionals held at the Shoemaker Center, I stole a line from a 10th Region hard-liner, who will remain nameless, and declared that the BOKC "ain't high school and sure isn't the 10th Region."

 

After attending each 9th Region game and 10th Region game played here over the past week, I've come to the conclusion that "we aren't in Kansas anymore" and that the BOKC did provide a fitting setting for the 10th Region Tournament, and housed a 10th Region Championship game, attended by a huge partisan 10th Region crowd, despite the early 6pm start time, traffic jams on US27, and long lines for tickets. I think the place acquitted itself well, and may well have helped the 37th District shed a bit of our past reputation as Yankees and Carpetbaggers and softened the overall perception of what the 37th District has to bring to the table. Perhaps we've brought something new and fresh to our storied region, something that the teams, coaches, and players of the 10th will actually look forward to every four years, despite the premiums spent in milage and travel time, ticket costs, and concession rates. I even think that perhaps the ticket costs and more favorable scheduling might be better negotiated (with at least students and young children getting a break) now that the tournament has shown an ability to reap a profit. I can't see how the 9th Region Girls could have possibly enjoyed their experience playing before 8,000 empty seats every night, and might be willing to take their show back to a major high school setting, while still sharing in some of the profits from the boys tournament. Sheer speculation.

 

We are a house divided and always will be due to the geometric layout of our region, so perhaps biting the bullet and establishing the three venue rotation will bring some degree of compromise to our ranks, while still maintaining the tradition and history of the "former" 10th Region.

WOW Wow,Is all i can say.These Royals have the heart of champion and it showed big time tonight.They came out got down by double digits going into halftime,But man o man did they D up in the 2nd half and just flatout out played the Cards.This one in my book is sweeter than the last few because last year everybody knew who was going to win going in and it wasn't close.This year though playing the underdog role as MOST said GRC was the heavy favorite and being able to come back after being down by 10+ and beat them is so sweet.Now lets go win 4 more next week and bring home the big hardware again,You can do it.It is nice to keep on winning them away from Home also.Congrats to Grc on a fine season also.

I find this hard to believe if you look at the poll from the prediction poll it was 79 in favor of Mason and 38 in favor of GRC so I'm not sure you can say that GRC was considered a heavy favorite.

Cards seem to play up to the competition, or down! Robbie Stenzel shows everyone who the best player in the tenth is this year and goes off on Mason for 35! Cards by 12!

Mason might as well plan a parade for, oh, 2012 cause it may be a long dry spell in Maysville!

Royals showed why they were the best team in the Region Tonight. Mason Co seemed to be in alot better shape than GRC. Setty and Pawsat were running up and down the floor with ease.

 

Zollo seems to have good moves around the basket and it going to be a good player.

 

 

Good 2nd Half Coaching by O'Hearn Mason Co started to work the basketball and Mason Co's Full Court Man to Man Gave GRC trouble.

I think the bench made the difference. In last nights game Mason was able to rest their players for half of the game with their bench and Clark had to play their guts out to win against a very physical team. Clark has no bench and that really hurts. I'm not one to make excuses but Clark has a 2 hr trip and Mason is about an hr and 15 minutes. Middleton is the key to Mason's team and I thought Pawsat played a great second half. Mason hit their free throws also the second half and Clark didn't. Hatton was the spark for us the first half and the press defense took that away the 2nd half. Zollo did ok and should have been under the bucket and gotton the ball more. Stenzel didn't seem to have the legs tonight, seemed tired. Good come back by Mason. See you next week.

Come on now people complained when it was at the Fieldhouse about home court but it was an hour closer,So now you get to travel 2+ hours,Which i liked the BOK would be glad to play it there anytime.Maybe when the 40th is up again you can fight Montgomery and try and have at Memorial in Lexington,Thats what 15 minutes from Winchester?Just a thought.
