Just thought it ironic that I have seen excuses such as, food too high, rude ushers, bad potties, gym too small, and then for a Mason fan to come out and say they didn't want to drive ...this was honesty....I laughed, because I wasn't expecting this answer.,,,just more excuses.

To clear up confusion, Mason fans didn't want to talk about anything else other than the game itself and the win for the title. I am sure your question wouldn't be posed by you if your Cards had won instead of Mason County.

You are so wrong, I had already give my congrats to them and wish them the best at state. We were definitely talking about the BOK and how they felt about it. Who won didn't matter. I asked people sitting around me how they felt, and they were from the 9th region.

 

The fact is these Mason fans stated they didn't want to drive, and I feel many other of their fans feel the same, but use the other excuses.

Now I wonder if they will complain about Rupp as they have complained about Montgomery Co last year and the BOK this year....I would think not.

Although I'm a transplant, I'll offer up a few more:

 

5. Tradition (maybe that's what you meant in #3)

6. Experience (in running the tournament)

7. Selfishness (you mentioned it but didn't list it). It's only natural for folks to want the tourney in their own back yard.

8. Atmosphere. There's nothing that I've seen in years of watching high-school basketball, with the exception of the finals at Rupp, that compares to a championship game at the Fieldhouse with wall-to-wall fans, bands blaring, the smell of popcorn, looking at the hall-of-fame list, and everything else that goes with it. Nothing.

GoldSunrise, complaints are not plentifull about the drive time,(complaints are in my PM to you) heck we have already figured it out, its harder for Mason to win the region title at home so would someone please call Harrison County and see if they can host next year. Won at Montgomery last year, BOKC this year, heck the last time it was at the fieldhouse your Cards won. Seems like less pressure to win it outside of the fieldhouse.....well now I will jump back to the serious side, of course like a poster above said the 10th Region tournament is The Fieldhouse and we can certainly go with Montgomery as well with more chances to host for obvious reasons-atmosphere! A Mason Co poster on here said last week that his wife ask him "why does everyone dislike Mason. Co". After reading all the comments made by Mason Co. people on here , I think everyone understands why. The Mason Co. kids are great but the fans are sonething else.:ylsuper::taz:

If they asked me about the venue...sure I would have discussed it with them. You took out of context what I said. Saying that who won the game didn't matter...in what we were discussing....the venue of the BOK. Totally different subject. Yes the subject of the conversation had changed from congratulating them on the win to having the 10th region at the BKO.

Robert Hatton has been a very good ball player for the Cardinals. He has been a starter for the last three years and will be greatly missed. Experience is something that is very hard to replace. Robert was a great three point shooter, had the ability to drive to the basket either scoring or drawing the foul. He was also a very good free throw shooter. He averaged over 16 points per game this year and also played good defense and had a lot of steals. He is an excellent student with a perfect 4point standing. He never got all the recognition he deserved .He has made his parents, family and GRC very proud. I wish him the best.:ylsuper:

Well, I'll give you this. Hatton is solid as a rock. Igneous, metamorphic, whatever else, to be literal. I don't know much about his off-court demeanor, but watching him play, he seems like the salt of the earth. :thumb:

He is a leader in every way that you would want a young man to be. He is active in his church, takes all AP classes, has a very high GPA, I could just go on and on. Don't know if you noticed...I did...at the end of the game Tuesday, he had a wide open lay up , instead he pass the ball to Christian Brewer...who had just entered the game. So he could score during the regional tourney. This was his last chance to score as a Card, as his career was ending. Instead he passed to his team mate. He is just a very classy kid.
