If I'm Dale Mueller I tell the new head coach to make sure the freshman coach is involved in the program as a coach. He has a bright future IMO.

Not sure about the JV coach if I would keep him or not. He's certainly dedicated but I can't tell if he can coach since he's usually just being loud.

Is the frosh coach still Mat Stevens?

I believe that is his name.

He's pretty solid. I'd think a new coach brings in his own JV and Asst varsity coach though.

Fine. However, leave him at the freshman level if nothing else.

Why's that?

Personally hoping a certain Highlands teacher and outstanding head basketball coach at another area high school isn't interested!! :D

:madman: You can't have him. :D

Who would be the leading candidates? I heard that Shumate may be leaving Beechwood.

Shumate would have to be considered a "hot" candidate if he decides it's time to leave Beechwood. I have heard that Beechwood has a lot of good young players in the system. They might struggle next year but would have a pretty good run thereafter.

Problem with Beechwood even moreso than it's reputation as a "football" school is the district. It seems everything has to break right for them to have the opportunity to compete to make it to the regional tourney.

Next years Highlands team would love to play his up tempo offensive style!

I think Mike Code should consider coaching the Birds. Great coach and gets the best out of his kids. No offense to Feldman the JV coach because he is an outstanding teacher and great with the kids but I cant see him leading the Birds to a 9th Region Championship.

I agree. Mike Code or Schumate of Beechwood would be excellent candidates for the position. I think next years' group would thrive in Schumate's uptempo offense and as you stated, Code always gets the best out of his players.

What about Mike Flynn? He's in the area.

Interesting. My guess is that he's interested in returning to the sidelines.

I do like Shumate's offense and Code would definitely stress defense. Its a toss up but both are very good candidates. Mike Flynn can apply all he wants but I cant see it happening.

I would have to say Mike Code would be the favorite. This could cause a major domino effect in N.KY.

Mike Code is the reason HHS was so good when they had their run of 9th region finals. He constantly stressed defense and the defense just wore teams out. Willie and John Messmer did a lot but Code was the reason they could shut down a team. Just my opinion!
