I don't necessaily agree with you, I don't think that Bell Co automatically gets #1 this year. I think it will be tough to beat them as well as it will be tough to beat Rock and Knox Co. however, I think that Madison So. and Mccreary will be much better this year as both teams have everyone back. I think this is probably the toughest district in 4-A and to answer the question of this thread I think Knox will have to play to the best of their ability every Friday night because every district game they play will be a tough one and I think Knox as well as the other district teams are fighting for the # 1 spot at this point. IMHO!:ylsuper:

Bell Co will be just as good in 09 as they were in 08. Their defense may be even better they have 7 returning starters.

Well guys, you scoffed at me last fall when I said KC had a good shot at beating Bell in the playoffs. All I'm saying is that Coach Mills has built a program that will be good year in and year out. Will they be good enough to challenge for the title this year? It's too early to tell, a lot of new talent to develop. It depends on how quick they can step up. I feel pretty good about it though.

 

Sticking with the purpose of the thread, I think developing a QB will be the key.

I usually make an effort to watch at least a couple of JV games but last year I just never got around to it. I know they've been very proud of their feeder programs recently and I expect some good kids to move up.

With the depth they had last year Greer did not play much defense if at all. Also, if I am not mistaken, Zachary was rested a lot on defense too IMO. They will be very good again IMO.

Zachery, Simpson and Harbin. Monte will be sorely missed on the defensive side. The other kids will step up just like all ways.

 

What was KC JV record last year I know that they didn't play Bell County? Just curious on how they fared.

Simpson did not play all the games last year, Greer and Ely played zero defense and Zachary split time with Madon at Safety.

 

So Bell will be very good on defense again (7 starters on defense in 09 will probally be Jrs or Soph's so look for the 2010 team to be solid as well). On offense they return WR's Raines, and Davenport. They return 3 OL starters. Along with Carton and the younger Davenport at HB. They will be very good.

 

Merrick and Harbin will be the biggest loses for this team.

 

MCC and Madison Southern will battle for 4th place again in 09.

I don't think Madison So. and McCreary Central would agree with, Bell Co. being #1 and Knox and Rock being # 2 and # 3. That dosn't give them much to work for. That's why we Practice and Play the Games.

Sorry! Getting back to Knox. I think a lot of Knox Centrals success will depend on the QB development. Knox has some good Lineman coming back along with some good Young Running Backs. They will be able to run the ball. Throwing it may be a problem.
