Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality

Featured Replies

Funny.

I have never had a sub from Subway with that much meat though.

Agreed.

One problem I have with Subway's food is most of it is a bread sandwich with little else. I mean, where's the meat?

As I was reading this thread, I'm going "did RTS purchase all those meals just to take pictures of them?"

That's why I get the meatball sub. It's the only one that's not 90% bread and 10% meat.

I think the Taco Bell nachos leave the most to be desired in comparing the studio shots with reality. Of course, it's best not to look at most mexican food before you eat it... just close your eyes and savor every fantastically delicious bite.

I see what you guys are saying. The ones on the left look terrible...

The french fries always look so joyous, hot and delicious but are always cold and lackluster.

The Beef n Cheddars are always beat up really bad. I personally never care, throw some Arby's sauce on there and it all goes down the same shoot.

The Wendy's Chicken Club probably is the fattest thing on the menu, just keep that in mind.

I was just telling RTS that this was making me crave a Beef n Cheddar. He said, "even after seeing that pic?" I replied, "Is that a bad thing?"

I'm all about the taste, not the appearance. I'm the person who smooshes up my eggs, hash browns and sausage gravey into one runny plate of food. I can eat anything as long as it tastes good. :D

In those studio shots, they doctor up the food; then they doctor up the pictures in editing. For instance, when you see moisture on a product, it's usually glycerin or something else artificial. The only thing they can't do (legally) is use substitutes for the actual product. They can (and do) however use artificials to replace any other food and drink in the shots.

Nothing will ever be as it seems in advertisements. Let's face it..marketing people are all evil! :irked:

I have to say though, I think whoever took the "real food" pictures did some doctoring of their own. Some of those sandwiches look like they've been sat on. Some of the shots look like they're missing some of the ingredients, and the cheese is all melted in others.

It's not surprising, but I'd eat just about every one of those pictures.

And Subway is weak.

Doesn't sound very tasty... :idunno:

Remember RM, anything you say can be used against you in a court of law (and on BGP).
