Record turn out at the golf tourney today. Thanks to everyone who played and a special thank you to all the parents and volunteers who made it so successful again this year.

 

You are right about record turn out this year for the Golf Scramble and I believe this is only the beginning of the records to be broke at Greenup this year. Being an alumus of Greenup, I have always had a pet peeve about our Mascot. I don't think we should shorten it to "Muskies". I am a Musketeer, not a fish. Am I alone in this? If needed, we should start a new thread in General Discussion with this topic.

I'm an "outsider", I've only been here 21 years, both sons consider themselves Musketeers not "Muskies".

I agree we are not a fish. I do believe years ago this was also a matter taken up with the ADI because the students did not appreciate the word Muskis being ued.

It was taken up with The Independent, then the ADI. If my memory serves me correctly, it was circa 1985. I was one of the letters to the editor at that time. I am pretty sure this happened during my Junior year. If someone knows for certain, please feel free to correct the year that we did this.

I have no problem being known as a "Muskie". But of course, I have been called a lot worse. As long as our teams are playing well, and representing the school with pride, I don't care if they call us the Periwinkle Brigade.

I know you meant no harm and I am not trying to be too anal retentive, it's just that in the 80's, the ADI went crazy with "Muskies" and most of us still playing took offense to it. Kind of like a yankee calling us hillbilly. You can call me that "'cause you is one and so is me".:lol:

Everyone needs to keep Brian Grayson in your prayers. He has a severe left knee injury. I just hope that a quick surgery and rehab can help him return to the field healthy and unaffected ASAP.

He is as tough as they come and if anybody can get back 100% soon, he can... My thoughts and prayers are with Grayson and his family.

Wrestling Friday. The whistle blew, but the opponent did not hear the whistle blow. Brian stopped but the other guy continued to attempt to throw Brian down. It caused Brian to twist his left knee as he laterally bent. Seeing the surgeon next Friday.
