Holmes 56 Newport Central Catholic 44

Mayfield's a player. I watched him a lot for Two Rivers. He will be big next year for Holmes. I also think Slusher could be productive in limited minutes this year.

We were talking about #30 who ETA says is Jones. Did you mean him or Mayfield as you expressed?

He could be another stud. I'm surprised I haven't heard much about him. He had a great first step. He handles the ball well as a lengthy wingman. Also has the ability to pull up and shoot well off the dribble. I was somewhat impressed with the youngman.

Offensively he is pretty solid, as you said, but I think it's his defense that needs to improve. He hasn't seen the floor much at the varsity level...even in blow outs.

Holmes actually has a pretty decent soph class though. Mayfield may even start next year as a junior along with Arnold. Hayes, Jones, Oden, and Gray will all see time off the bench. Notice I didn't even mention Mcclendon... Holmes will be really deep next year.

I think TR was referring to Mayfield being another solid Sophomore from a previous post and not the one that he actually had quoted.

I was referring to Jones in the post that you responded to...not Mayfield.

Holmes held a double digit lead the whole second half. The game was never in doubt. Let's not forget this same NCC team beat them on the way to the finals last year. This was a solid game for Holmes. When the lights come on at HC and NKU in two weeks. Henley will have his team ready. He has won 3 out of the last 4 9th region championship. He knows how to get his teams up for tourney time.

Oh my fault.

Nice bounce back win...I still beleive Holmes is the best team in the state, maybe that lose was a wake up call for them and they seemed to benifited from their lose to Boone.

Tonight against Holmes yes.... Otherwise no.

I heard few comments from some NCC faithful that Connor is a 40% 3 pt shooter but plays are not run to him very often or often enough? Did notice he was 2-4 the Gish kid looked like he could shoot a little.

After Pangallo, Connor and Gish the rest of NCC looked scared.

It almost looked like Holmes was toying with NCC at times????? Holmes is VERY GOOD!

They ran a diamond press and to be honest they still have a lot of kinks in it to work out.

For you Old Timers

I wonder if this was the same Diamond press Rennie Flynn used to run back in the day. I can still hear him screaming.. "Diamond Diamond" in that Southern high pitched shrill of a voice.

Boone/Holmes will be a good game. Didn't Boone beat them last week?

Come on Clyde you know who won... :idunno:

When does Pittman play a lot? After every game the reason Holmes didn't beat a team by 20+ is because Pittman only play 20 minutes or whatever.

Those presses that Coach Reynolds Flynn used back in the old days worked to a perfection. :thumb:

I think you will see Pittman play a lot during the regional tourney.

I asked because I truly wasn't sure. I went to the varsity game but I didn't get there in time to see the JV game. Nothing more.

It doesn't matter if Pittman is in the game or not. Holmes, has all year, hardly ever, blows anyone out of the gym. Plain and simple, doesn't matter how much you win by, it is either a win or a loss. 24-2 seems to be a lot of wins. by 1 or by 30+ :idunno:
