Holmes 56 Newport Central Catholic 44

Minus the 1st quarter, this was a 2 point game. NCC had plenty of shots in the paint that would not drop. They make a few of these, and it is a much closer game.

Who won the JV game?

Holmes won the JV. NCC took a lead late, but gave it right back up. I believe it was about a seven point margin.

Typical Holmes get a lead early then coast.

Probably not as close though as the margin might indicate?

I think a lot of that has to do with Holmes depth.

True but I'm also going to venture to say that they don't normally shoot that well from outside like they did today as well so that helped them get into the position they were in.

Good recovery. Glad to hear Pittman is back in action.

To be honest the varsity game was not close at all :idunno:

I have fears that it might cost Holmes chances of a state title down the road. I'd really like to see Holmes put some teams away and leave no dout as to how good they are. When you let teams hang around one day it just might come back to bite you.

Holmes won the JV game 42-37. They play Campbell Co at 2:00 tomorrow, then play Boone County for the JV championship at 6:00.

Arnold hasn't played a game of JV since early in the season. I believe Holmes JV only has maybe 2 or 3 losses on the year?

Honestly I was not that all impressed with Holmes tonight. I know this game does not mean much, but I have seen NCC lose to better teams. Boone being one, and Shelby Valley Being the other. If Holmes doesn't pick it up, they may not make it out of NKU. I thought Holmes would win it all, but I am definately having 2nd thoughts.

I knew that Holmes would bounce back after the loss to Boone Co. So glad Pitman is OK too.:thumb:

Boone/Holmes will be a good game. Didn't Boone beat them last week?

I agree. Last years team as soon as they get a double digit lead, here comes a new five without a drop off. This year you only see seven. Arnold and the other sophmore guard are the keys. You know what you will get from R.J ,J.J, Riley, and Pittman.
