Louisville. Its a baptist sponsored school started in 1976. Used to be called the Highview Baptist Christian School and became Whitefield Academy in 1997. Short history lesson.

Why would the starters play over 20 mins in this game?

 

Lack of class on the coaches part IMO. Sure does make it look like he tried running the score up.

Totally agree. Do you have to beat a team by 61 points to prove you are better? Glad Coach Henley (Holmes) didn't do the same to Cooper tonight. His starters might have played 15 minutes at the most. Now that's class IMO.

That being the case - Whitefield/Highview is an "A" State Runner-up, finishing second to Newport Central Catholic back in 2000.

I attended this game tonight. Had the pleasure to meet Fergusons and Knipps dads.

 

I knew that Knipp was not playing his usual game and found out he has been sick. Loved watching him play in the State tourney as a 8th grader. Been a fan of his since.

 

When Whitefield finally scored their first points in the second quarter....most everyone in the gym clapped. Not a very good game to watch being so one sided, as I know it would be.

I did not hear anything on this game or listen to it so I, like another has mentioned certainly hope that Elliot substituted early and often in this one.

Elliott played very good defense and Whitefield was totally in shell shock after the first two minutes. Starters played 1st and 3rd quarters entirely. Other than that substitutions were liberal. Whitefield simply couldn't score even with Elliott in a very loose 2-3 zone in the second half.

Was at the game. No if we wanted to run the score up to 130 we could have. I think the starters that are seniors deserve a little playing time in this their final All A tournament. We could have won by 100 easily, but didn't.

In the 4th quarter he still had in both of the Knipps brothers till late in the 4th. In the second quarter Knipps were out but Ferguson , and the Faulkners were in the game.

 

Coach Mays doesn't have a history of substituting alot. I just hope that this doesn't hurt him and the team in the post season.

Also some people around me were wondering why he would risk of getting a starter hurt, when the game was clearly won. Just some discussion that was going on during the game from non-partisan observers.
