Mine is when my son hit the shot that put our team into overtime to win our first middle school championship ever!!! I was so proud!!!

I didn't play High School basketball but the best moment I have witnessed was the Saturday morning game at the Sweet Sixteen in'98. "The shot that was heard around the state" Rick Jones hit a half court three to win the game and send Scott Co. to the finals where they beat J.R. Vanhoose and Paintsville.

Or the buzzer beater in 96' they propeled to eventually winning the Championship.But I never saw that in person.

I have two moments. One is watching Paintsville overcome South Floyd in the regional tounrament when they were down 25 I think at the half. They won on a last second lay up scoop shot by the smallest guy on the court.

The other one was THE DUNK last year in the finals. Amazing.

Antwain Barbour's amazing performance in the state tournament semifinals vs. Russellville in the fourth quarter and the ongoing duel during the whole game vs. Dickerson and Key. A performance/game I'll never forget.

 

I will have to agree that Barbour's performance on that Saturday was the greatest thing I have ever witnessed with my own eyes in high school b-ball.

We were about to leave Rupp Arena with about a minute left and Russellville up by about 8 when for some unknown reason decided to watch the end. Glad the voice in my head kept me there.

I would have to say that mine is witnessing Jacob Todd hit the buzzer beating layup to beat NCC in the 2005 All "A" tournament in richmond, and to send his team to the championship game.

I990 in Memorial Colusium in Lexington in the first statewide All A tournament. Owsley County avenged a 5 point December loss at Lexington Catholic by defeating the Knights in the first round of the tournament, then came back to defeat Harlan on Friday night and Maysville on Saturday morning. The Owls fell to UHA in the finals, but Owsley center Jeff "Moose" Moore was named MVP of the tournament. Moose still has the All A records for most points scored in the tournament (115), most field goals, and most free throws made. He had the most rebounds until, I think, Paintsville's VanHoose broke it in the mid-'90s.

I liked Memorial. The crowds were huge and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

Being able to watch little ol' St. Henry in the 2003 season. My brother sat varsity on that them that won the ALL A State Championship over OJ and Rose Hill. They also went on to win the 9th Region Title and lose in a thriller to the eventual state champion Mason County. Many of those players on that team were JV guys when I was playing and still good friends of mind. It made me pround to be a Crusader.

Mine would be every time I laced up and went out on the court from 4th grade through 4 yrs of varsity basketball. I could go on for hours....

 

Best moment I witnessed was as a coach of my son's 4th grade school team in the finals of a Tournament. Down by 1 pt and my big guy on the line for 2 shots with 1.9 sec left. My son had the 2nd block in position for a rebound. Big guy misses the first and the crowd was going nuts... stomping their feet, he misses the second free throw, my son slips inside of the defender and before he can even come down with the ball he tosses it back up, rolls around the rim once and through the net for the game winner. Pandemonium..... hopefully there will be more but I told him that may be the only one he ever gets so don't ever forget it.

My most memorable moment was my junior year and we (newport) beat NCC up on the hill by 20 points and on my birthday. That was the first time I'd beaten NCC in any sport and was so happy. I think i had 8 points that game.

 

My best performance though was my senior year and we played Shroeder Padiea from Cincy and I had 22 points and 10 boards. I was on fire that night.

Mine would be the 2000 Tenth Region Championship game. Bishop Brossart vs. Mason Co. I was one of four seniors on that Brossart team. Justin Seiter scored 28 points in that game including the game winner at the buzzer (I added 9 points and Scott Ruth had 11). The ball rolled around the rim THREE TIMES before deciding to go in. It was amazing.

The atmosphere was top notch and the Tenth Region Tournament is one of the best high school basketball atmospheres in the state.

That 2000 Brossart team went onto the Sweet 16 and won their first game in that Tournament beating Graves Co.

Brossart started off hot that season, winning thier first six games beating some quality teams. Then things fell apart, we didn't even win the Tenth Region All "A", but things came together at the right time. Alexandria was buzzing!

Mine would have to be watching the 1978 State Championship game at Freedom Hall when Shelby County's Charles Hurt went up through the rim and goaltended Holmes Doug Schloemer's lay-up shot and nothing was called, which robbed Holmes of the state championship.

1982 State Championship at Rupp when Paul Andrews (Laurel County) hit the winning basket from just over midcourt in the championship game as time expired! :thumb:

Was there for that, it was electric!

Mine had to be when Simon Kenton won the state in '81, unranked and all but forgotten they kept fighting when everyone counted them out. They did something no other 9th region team has ever done. After beating a very classy Mason Co. team I realized that I looked at things differently and was proud to be from a special community. I was to young to play on that team,but every one of those guys felt like family to me. We have been blessed in the state of Kentucky with our basketball heritage.
