Elliott County Basketball

Very simple.

1. They're threatened. speechless-smiley-013.gif

2. Elliott County's publicity means somene else isn't getting quite as much.

3. And don't hammer me here; just an observation. Some fans bring on the criticism themselves. Not just an EC thing, either.

PS - Congrats to Elliott County on the recognition!

Over 10k posts, and I've never seen a bad one!:thumb: Great post on all points!

Is it safe to say that Elliott County has the most discussed high school team in the history of BGP?

I only wish that winning the state would go as easily as winning that title! (And dont get me wrong, Im just agreeing, I would love to see that)!:thumb: And I feel it is a strong possibility!

Thanks for the kind words.

However, there are some folks over in P&R who might take issue with your (in my opinion, anyway) cogent analysis.:D

I agree with JPP, always a classic post mcpapa. :thumb:

It is great to see a small school like Elliot get some nice publicity.

A little off topic, but I agree. MC PaPa has always been first class when posting or enforcing the rule's. I heard Mr. Joe B. Hall said Elliott was his "all time favorite high school team". If that is true, Elliott couldn't recieve a better compliment than that.

Coach Hall paid respect to the Elott team by saying he wore their jersey. I Hope the school sends him a nice t-shirt. That town and the whole County is behind that team and they love the county for that .

They sure are a hot topic! :fight:

They will be "THE UNFORGETTABLES" of Ky high school basketball in Elliott Co for sure, and just maybe in the whole state with a little blessing!!!!!!!!!!

No. That goes to Mason Co. in a landslide.

From Ryan Ernst (Cincinnati/NKY Enquirer) blog:

The way everyone's talking about Elliott County, I can't wait to see the Lions play at the All "A" Classic at the end of the month.

Just thought some of you might be interested in that. :thumb:

Woo-hoo!2403.gif

Didn't want to start another thread, so this one is a good place to put this. Demling' Blog on the Courier-Journal had a nice article yesterday entitled "Ferguson is a Scorer". He is that, but the last few games his touches, # of shots, and looks has been way down. Ferg is shooting a high percentage like 7-12 against East, but only 6 trey attempts. Got to get him back to his average of 20-22 shots and 10-12 trey attempts much like the South Charleston game. When Jodie Meeks gets shots he scores bundles of points (witness UT the other night) and what happens?? UK wins big. Ferg got plenty of shots and looks against South Charleston with 8-12 on trey shooting and what happens? They win by 24 points with 107 points scored on a quality team.

This could (by mistake) be seen as me being critical of other players or coaches. I am not in any way. Repeat not being critical of anyone just stating facts. There are plenty of shots to go around, just saying Ferg needs to score and get more shots for EC to be competitive against top 20 teams. i.e. look at the difference between the shots and scores of South Charleston vs. West Carter/Anderson and one can see the difference. If we want exciting overtime games that can go anyway then my advice would be to limit Ferg to 10 shots or less. If we want games that are not close in the end then I would try to get Ferg his average of 20-22 shots per game.

:thumb: Nice post, and nice explanation of what could be easily misinterpreted otherwise!
