Reds sign Jerry Hairston Jr. to one year deal

Good Lord, Gonzalez could have had a heart transplant and come back quicker than this. It's getting a bit exasperating.

That's what I'm screaming. Like my unemployed friend always says, he's an artist, he's on the draw!
Hairston signing is good for both he and the club. And I agree with LRCW, I'd lead Hairston off, bat Taveras 8th.

My bigger question is this, why in the world will AG not be ready, what the frig has he been doing while he's been off? How long does it take?

The Reds sign Taveras to be their leadoff hitter and CF. He will have to hit below .260 for someone else to hit leadoff. As far as Gonzo, has there been any news on his son?

Might wanna think about moving BP to SS.

I wouldnt like that move. BP is fine at 2cd base, maybe they should just sign or trade for a everyday SS and not have to worry about moving BP around. Why fix something that isnt broke? He just won a gold glove at 2cd

No chance...

I have faith that Jock will find another Ryan Ludwig.

In my opinion, if Chris Valaika has a good spring, he comes north to be the everyday SS. Of course that could change with another signing.

Too bad.. He would be the best they got.

:thumb: With Hairston, EE, and god knows who in left that makes for a very very weak left side.

If I'm a Reds fan, I would want to make sure I had a good defensive SS to help out the pitching staff. Up-the-middle defense would become a bit of a strength instead of a weakness.

I'm guessing Keppy has to be considered also. He has the least range out of all of them. SS has now become a glaring weakness with A Gon out.

I'm glad to hear that it is more treatable than thought. I know that the Red Sox are very interested in bringing him in as a 4th outfielder since JD Drew requires so many off days. Especially with him being from Rhode Island. They will probably be even more interested if it is possible that he can play around 100 games effectively.

It sounds like the change in his diagnosis is indeed going to lead to the Red Sox signing Baldelli. :thumb:

If he can indeed overcome his fatigue problem he'll make a great 4th outfielder.

I expect Taveras to lead off and Hairston to hit in the 2-hole.

Read today where Hairston may be playing a lot of LF.

What is the deal with Alex Gonzalez?
