Nope, per our thread on the subject, he has to score that much because he's coached to take that many shots because he has to carry the load because that's all they have. Or at least that is a summary of the entire drawn out thread that I gathered.

He has no other options which makes it more impressive. The D only has to worry about him.

I think after you lead the state in scoring the previous two years, the defense will ALWAYS be worried about you.

 

Don't you think after Ferguson scored over 20 in the first half that the D predicated on stopping him?

Ok. How many shots did he shoot? Did he attempt any free throws? What did he finish the game with? How many minutes did he play in the game? If Ferguson had played the entire game he could have scored 60, or maybe more. This kid is an unique talent who can shoot/score with anyone in the country. I don't know for sure who is recruiting him, but he will have is D1 options. Wait and see.

Ferguson is a great high school basketball player, I just can't see him playing D1. I wasn't sure, but after seeing him play last night against West and not being able to take Oney off the dribble has made my opinion easy now.

 

You are correct, I also so Ferguson not take take Oney off the dribble once.I also saw other Elliott guards try to take their man off the dribble and not make it either, with some falling to the ground and losing the ball. I also saw all those same guards at other times take their man off the dribble and score or draw the foul. That is just part of the game. I have saw Michael Jordan stopped by his defender and have to kick back out. Elliott has some of the best guards I have saw in a long time around here. Surely you wouldn't pass judgement on a kid just because he didnt take someone off the dribble on one play,unless there was another motive of course. By the way, West Carter has some dandy guards also.

I like Ferguson and there is always somewhere in the game for a shooter and he can definitely shoot the ball. Everyone falls in love with size and athleticism including myself at times but bottom line is you still have to put the ball in the basket. I really don't know what level he can play at but I would bet his family don't have to pay for his education.

 

It must run in the family as I saw his sister (Shae) play over the holiday at Lexington Catholic and she appeared to be shooting and connecting from somewhere close to I-75. Best of luck to both in the future.

As a freshman in the regional tourney against a very athletic Ashland squad, Ferg amazed me with his domination and smooth moves in the paint. This kid is much more than just a shooter!

JPP - I totally agree, another thing impresses me is the quick release on his shot.

He was 6-9 from the field. 1 for 2 from beyond the arc and 8 for 9 from the free throw line. Not bad huh?
