P. Manning's Legacy

I do find it interesting that most will say a qb is judged by his post-season success and then when you mention a specific qb who is well-liked suddenly its a "team" game. We can't have it both ways.

1. A sure first-round Hall-of-Famer.

2. Give me Manning in the regular-seaon and Montana in the post-season.

3. What's wrong with the OT rules? Why change the game just because there's an overtime? The freak show that is HS and NCAA overtime isn't needed in the pro game.

1. Agreed

2. In 4 Super Bowls, Montana never threw an interception. Amazing.

3. Both teams should have at least 1 possession but keep the 15 minute quarter time limit.

Yeh and he too is considered one of the best ever. What's your point? Peyton also has one ring already. There is no reason if the Colts make moves in the off season that they shouldn't be one of the better teams in the league next year.

You are correct. Marino was great BUT....his legacy includes a BUT. Manning is somewhat doomed by his own success. The Colts have been so dominate during the regular season that people expect more out of them in the post-season. Peyton will go down as an all-time great but if he adds nothing else to his post-season resume, then his legacy will include an "Atlanta Braves"-like label.

I'll take Manning every single day of the week, and twice on Sundays.....over everyone.

Agree with RockPride...When he didn't have a ring everyone was saying he wouldn't be great and his legacy would be tarnished. Now he has a ring and a couple years later everyone thinks he is a choke artist again. He is the best QB in the league and when it is all said and done he could very well be the greatest to ever play the game.

Just not on Saturdays ... in January.

So by that standard there were 9 great quarterbacks: Aikman, Brady, Bradshaw, Elway, Griese, Montana, Plunkett, Starr, and Staubach.

A bunch of OK guys like: Favre, Manning, Unitas, Warner, and Young

And a whole bunch of hacks like Fouts, Kelly, Marino, Moon, and Tarkenton.

You know what's really interesting about these lists...The top 5 QB's of all time IMO are...

1) John Elway

2) Joe Montana

3) Tom Brady

4) Terry Bradshaw

5) Troy Aikman

Notice anything they have in common.....

Me too in weels 1-17.

Not his fault the NFL has stupid overtime rules. No doubt in my mind if he gets the ball first the Colts score.

:thumb:I agree 110% on this one, the overtime in the NFL is just rediculous and not very fair at all. Both teams should have an equal chance.

Didn't they have an equal chance for 60 mins?

Manning's legacy: Most tv commercial spots in the history of pro athletes.

He won a Superbowl, he's in good shape. Next.

He has a ring. He'll likely own every significant passing record when he retires.

I'm not a fan, but there's no denying his legacy. I don't think he's the best ever, but he's near the top of the list.
