P. Manning's Legacy

Not his fault the NFL has stupid overtime rules. No doubt in my mind if he gets the ball first the Colts score.

:thumb: I wish the overtime rule would change, it's long overdue...

I find it interesting that so many labeled the Colts as the best team in the AFC but now, all of a sudden Peyton did it on his own and the rest of the team sucked. Im not really blasting Peyton defenders because you were not the ones in the other threads as a whole. Im just wondering where the others are, and where they stand on this thread!

I'm firmly in the camp that if you're an all time great QB and the team has been built around you the team should win a playoff game against an 8-8 team that scored 17 points in regulation.

He does have a superbowl.

Some great Qb's don't have Rings. :thumb:

Very true. Look at Marino.

Manning is a GREAT QB, ... one of the all time best However, a QB can't do it all. If not for him, the Colts would not have even sniffed the playoffs. Absolutely no ground game whatsoever.

1. A sure first-round Hall-of-Famer.

2. Give me Manning in the regular-seaon and Montana in the post-season.

3. What's wrong with the OT rules? Why change the game just because there's an overtime? The freak show that is HS and NCAA overtime isn't needed in the pro game.

I would like it to be an extra quarter played till the end of the 15 minutes, not just who scores first wins. At the end of 15 minutes they're done - win, lose, or draw.

Can't have draws in the playoffs

All of that goes into his legacy. Dan Marino was one of the best passers of all-time. You can mention his receivers, lack of running backs, defense, etc. but PART of his legacy is that he never won a Super Bowl.

Yeh and he too is considered one of the best ever. What's your point? Peyton also has one ring already. There is no reason if the Colts make moves in the off season that they shouldn't be one of the better teams in the league next year.

He has a ring, and is a sure first ballot hall of famer, enough said.

He has one ring. You really want me to list all the QBs that have 1 ring? In order for me to consider him one of the best ever he needs to get another ring. Tons of good QBs have a ring, when you start talking about multiple rings is when you start narrowing the list.

So by that standard there were 9 great quarterbacks: Aikman, Brady, Bradshaw, Elway, Griese, Montana, Plunkett, Starr, and Staubach.

A bunch of OK guys like: Favre, Manning, Unitas, Warner, and Young

And a whole bunch of hacks like Fouts, Kelly, Marino, Moon, and Tarkenton.

True. I had regular season in my head.

In the playoffs, they'd have to play another quarter, or another 5 minute period, or something until done.

I have just never liked the first to score wins thing. But I also would not do what college does.

Yeah, because the QB is the only one on a football team.

How about you play a 15 min quarter as they do know. However if the team getting the first possession scores they kick off and the other team gets a chance. If the other team doesn't score game over. After both teams have one possession each and no one has scored it goes to first to score wins.

I like that a lot better than the current set-up.

I just don't think there's any reason to mess around with it. Until Dan Diego's win over Indy, I believe that the last FIVE playoff games were won by the team that lost the coin toss.

Sometimes the defense has to step up and stop somebody.
