Anybody have details from this one?

Wow. Very surprised by this score. Did Jenkins play? Details?

Congrats to Hazard!

Congrats to Hazard!

I am not suprised. Hazard has a very nice ball club. I think in the update thread that Jenkins did not play in the 1st quarter....not sure on the whole game.

I watched him play last night. Great hustle...but you could tell he was rusty from being out several weeks with the ankle injury.

^ Yes, Hazard does have a nice team. I'm not surprised that they won, just the margin.

Updates from Saturday’s quarterfinals of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic boys’ basketball tournament at Lexington Catholic.

No. 10 Hazard had no trouble beating No. 7 Manual 71-50. Junior point guard Josh Whitaker’s 23 points, 7 assists and 5 steals led the Bulldogs. Robert Warren didn’t miss a shot and had 18 points. Michael Campbell had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Manual’s Jacob Jenkins had 13 points, but still looked far from his old self as he is still recovering from a foot injury.

Junior point guard Josh Whitaker has 11 points and 3 assists as Hazard leads 29-19 at halftime. The Bulldogs are shooting 60%. Michael Campbell has 8 rebounds for Hazard. Manual’s Harold Calhoun has 6 points. Senior star Jacob Jenkins, showing the effects of a foot injury, played the second quarter and had 2 points.

Hazard, paced by Josh Whitaker’s 7 points, leads 15-9 after one quarter. Manual star Jacob Jenkins, who had been sidelined with a foot injury before playing in Friday’s opening round, hasn’t been on the court yet Saturday.

Not surprised Hazard won. Just a little surprised by the margin.

So, they have "one of the top two players in the state" back and take one right on the kisser. I think "overrated" sums them up. Looks to me they got a pass without that player, now what?

The cast came off Jenkins on Tuesday and was playing just two days later. He has not conditioned, shot around, nor practiced for weeks. It takes five to ten days for the strength to come back and the stiffness to go away. Some of the stiffness appeared to go away as he re entered the game in the 4th and went for 11 points.

A day of rehab tomorrow and another game Monday will help speed the recovery. Its only a matter of time before he's back to form.

Manual's a very good team...but this should knock them down in the high teens or even further. Jenkins' rust can't explain a 21 point smackdown. Hazard validates their top 10 with this emphatic a knockout.

Congrats to Hazard!

How good would you be two and three days after getting a full cast removed from your leg? Give a kid a chance to get recovered then put your squad on the court against Manual with Jenkins at full force.

Let's get back to the game and off one another.

Congrats to Hazard.:thumb: The Bulldogs have a good team, and represent the mountains well.
