Against NCC they get outshot at the free throw line 30+ attempts to 12 and only lose by what 8? Nothing to figure out, just need to put the ball in the basket. Like I said I wasn't at the game, so I have no idea. Did talk two dads of players, and effort was again at question. I was at the NCC game, and was appalled at the effort. How many did times did NCC rebound their missed FTs. Cardinal sin to let you opponent walk into the lane and rebound their own missed FT. But this is the Brossart thread. Good win for them. Congrats.

Well here you go Q. Watson and Grote got two fouls called on them in the first quarter and did not return to the court until the second half. Grubbs played a lot tonight and I would think had a double/double. Birds went 10 deep. Free throw shooting was horrible. They missed the front end of the bonus 5 times in the last 4 minutes or so of the game. Kowolonek is really struggling from the floor right now as is Grote. They will be okay as the season goes along.

I say give the Mustangs credit where its due and the Birds are going to have to go back to what worked for them in their first 3 games where they were victorious. I can tell you if they shot that poorly from the line I would think Willie has them up there right now shooting 100 FT's today.

I agree 100% Give coach code and the Brossart players a lot of credit. They came out right from the get go and put ball pressure on the ball and hit shots when they needed to hit them.

 

That being said Highlands also may have played bad in general but Brossart played with a lot of heart.

 

If Brossart plays Highlands 10 times, they may only win once and last night they may have gotten that win. But give Brossart credit.

He came out in preseason and stated they were going to use an uptempo offense.

Brossart senior forward Brian Wolfer sealed the game at the free-throw line as the Mustangs defeated Highlands 55-53 Saturday.

 

Wolfer's shots put his team up by four points with seven seconds to play.

 

Brossart junior forward Jacob Rieger had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Joe Webb, a senior guard, scored 16 points to lead Highlands.

To set the record straight - Highlands missed 4 front ends all night - 3 of those came in the fourth quarter.

I see, not really his style of play. He has had teams before that were capable of running an offense like that and he still slowed it down so I don't see why this team would be any different.

Highlands is struggling offensively in a serious way.
