As well they should be. That was a signature win for a team that could surprise some people come Tourney time.

I'd take Mike Code on my sideline any day.

Tough, physical ballgame!

Brossart led virtually every step of the way.

Tied at 3-3 to start, Stangs led at the quarter stop 14-11 and 29-27 at the half. Highlands tied it up at 29-29 out of the locker room at halftime, but the Mustangs pushed to lead to 7 and 8 in the second half, but each time the Birds would cut into the lead and again tie it up. Stangs 40-38 after three and the Birds took the lead by one point (I misplaced my running score sheet) with three minutes and change, but again the Mustangs re-took the lead and hung on to win 55-53.

Brian Wolfer hit a free throw with 7.6 to go to give the Mustangs a two-possession lead at 55-51 and then conceded a layup as time was running out.

To answer earlier questions about Grote, he started but did not score - 0-0-0/1-0

Lother really impressed tonight. Great defensive pressure and hit four huge 3s when the Birds needed them most. Extremely quick release shot!!!! Only big one he missed was the last one he took late in the game, which would have been killer.

BIG win for the Mustangs on Justin Seiter Jersey Retirement night.

Congrats Mustang(s), very big win tonight. Great job

:scared: The line on Grote might be the worst since his first game at the local YMCA in kindergarten.

Excellent synopsis Mustang as always.

Well here you go Q. Watson and Grote got two fouls called on them in the first quarter and did not return to the court until the second half. Grubbs played a lot tonight and I would think had a double/double. Birds went 10 deep. Free throw shooting was horrible. They missed the front end of the bonus 5 times in the last 4 minutes or so of the game. Kowolonek is really struggling from the floor right now as is Grote. They will be okay as the season goes along.

Thanks for the update. Grubbs could be a force for them down low once he gets his legs and shot.

Not possible. Literally, impossible.

Thanks for the analysis Mustang. Sounds like the Birds just couldn't get over the hump.

Brossart senior forward Brian Wolfer sealed the game at the free-throw line as the Mustangs defeated Highlands 55-53 Saturday.

Wolfer's shots put his team up by four points with seven seconds to play.

Brossart junior forward Jacob Rieger had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Joe Webb, a senior guard, scored 16 points to lead Highlands.

Thought Collingworth was playing and Tony G. as well?

Nope.

I think their biggest downfall right now is they aren't playing as a team and that's what may be affecting them. It's tough to have 3 new kids come in and still have the same chemistry. They'll be fine by Feb. Mark it down.

Birds will be fine. I'm sure they were just tired from Friday night's game. I know NCC was, but they played Cooper not Brossart. Brossart always plays hard.

Wow.. I wasn't there, so can't comment on the game. Newport rolls in the Ft. Thomas tomorrow. If the Birds don't get it figured out Newport hangs another L on the Birds.
