I had went out and scouted all season and thought I had the perfect pick. This kid is 5'11" and 15/16ths of another inch. Dibbles, shoots, and writes left handed. BUT I drove to his house from mine and the mileage that my car gave me put him at 20 miles and .001 tenths from my house. I think I'll move into my old club house so I can add him to the list.

A quick update on two of our previous "can't miss" prospects:

"Lefty" Johnson - led the conference in assists three straight years, averaging 0.03 assists per game (they don't pass much in our neck of the woods).

"Lefty" Johnson (real name - Sid) graduated last summer, and signed a contract with a New York ad agency as a hand model. Just to show you how screwed up those people are, they are using his right hand in the ads - not even his good one.... :creepy:

 

 

and -

"One Thumb" Bronson - born a natural lefty, he was strictly right handed - but only because of the accident while trying to clear a jam out of the combine on the farm. Nice outside set shot, but never could go to his left with any real authority. Some say the sky was the limit, if only they had kept some dry ice around the house.

Bad luck has continued to follow Bronson, as he just can't seem to catch a break. Sadly, his career now appears to be over, due to his inability to read. His father bought the new BGP 3000 Snowblower in anticipation of the predicted blizzard. "One Thumb", having not read the owner's manual, fired it up to take it for a "test spin" down the driveway. Once again, Bronson was introduced to modern machinery in a most harsh manner....

 

The good news is, he really likes his new nickname - "Stubby".

We do have a kid in these parts that I have know idea why he is not getting the recognition he deserves. Why are they not hyping "Lefty" Thompson as much as they do those big city boys? He goes by Lefty, but the truth is, he's amphibious. You should see him on the court using both hands like they are both lefts.

Technically if he was amphibious, wouldn't they be flippers instead of hands. :confused:

I would like to get back on topic to post-"humorously" nominate "Boogers" McGoo, the sharpshooting southpaw legend from Rabbit Hash. He graduated from Rabbit Hash High School (now Conner) in 1933. He could shoot the leather but had occasional problems with traveling because he had sticky mitts (pun intended to an honorable BGP member) due to excessive mucus substances on his fingertips at all times. He had a really bad habit. Anyway, he is now under 6' of dirt exactly 19 and 3/4 miles from my house and deserves consideration. God rest his booger-pickin' soul.

Yea - he gets a lot of work modeling wristwatches (did you see his work on the latest Rolex campaign), men's jewelry (a highly regarded spread in this month's Gentlemen's Quarterly), and he does a ton of glove ads.

 

He was nominated for a "Phalangy" (the hand models' equivalent to a Tony or an Oscar) after the Isotoner line was introduced this fall.

 

Without a doubt, Sid "Lefty" Johnson has done our hometown proud.

 

Below, I am attaching the "photo seen round the world" - it is considered some of the finest work that Sid ever produced, and many in the business feel like it guarantees his place in the Hand Models' Hall of Fame.

 

As you can see for yourself - it is breathtaking...

I have to hand it to him; he's definitely got his finger on the pulse of what's hot in today's digital couture.
