December 17, 200817 yr -- Dow: If you guys finish this out winning three in a row, or even two of three, how much will it show that improvement has been made, versus covering up improvements that still need to be made? -- Lewis: "Oh, I don't think it covers anything up that we feel interiorly, and that's the only thing that matters. Dustin, all your angles and so forth, I'm going to ask other people questions because I really don't like the angles you take in here each and every week." -- Dow: What's wrong with that? -- Lewis: "I just think it's disrespectful for what we're doing. I really do. So I'll tend to answer the other guys' questions. Anything else?" -- Dow: People who that is important to are the fans who are reading. -- Lewis: "What we're trying to do is win football games. Maybe you should answer for them, because you seem to do that, anyway." -- Dow: I don't know the answers. That's why I'm asking you. -- Lewis: "I'm not going to get into a debate with you. All right?" -- Dow: (inaudible) -- Lewis: "I just told you I'm not going to answer your questions any more. All right? They might have to send somebody else over to do your job. All right?" http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=blog09&plckController=Blog&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3ac78cbe8a-2b47-436d-a33e-623f9b65de7cPost%3ad1364646-75b3-414e-a47f-ab8862df5e3f&sid=sitelife.cincinnati.com
December 17, 200817 yr -- Dow: If you guys finish this out winning three in a row, or even two of three, how much will it show that improvement has been made, versus covering up improvements that still need to be made? Absolutely legitimate question. Very disappointing reaction and answer by Lewis. He seems to have bought into Mike Brown's program more and more with each passing season.
December 17, 200817 yr He seems to have bought into Mike Brown's program more and more with each passing season. Consistently losing does that to you.
December 17, 200817 yr Consistently losing does that to you. Marvin is hardly blameless for the Bengals' current woeful state. Bad players that play for a bad head coach who coaches for a horrific organization. And it'll be the exact same tune next year. How the Bengals manage to accomplish this in an NFL environment that is specifically designed to help the weaker franchises pull themselves out of quicksand is truly amazing. Got to give them credit for remaining consistently pathetic for so long . . . .
December 17, 200817 yr Marvin is horrible. I hope the rumors about his year end resignation come to fruition.
December 17, 200817 yr Marvin is horrible. I hope the rumors about his year end resignation come to fruition. I'll give him some credit, he was able to motivate some players when he first got here, but you are right, he is a horrible coach.
December 17, 200817 yr If we gets fired/resigns who in the right mind would want to coach the Bengals?
December 17, 200817 yr If we gets fired/resigns who in the right mind would want to coach the Bengals? Someone who wants 1 of only 32 of these jobs in the world. It may be the Bengals but it's still a great gig.
December 17, 200817 yr Author Someone who wants 1 of only 32 of these jobs in the world. It may be the Bengals but it's still a great gig. The money is nice. That's about it...
December 17, 200817 yr The money is nice. That's about it... Obviously. That's what I meant. It won't be a "great" gig until there's a real GM in place
December 18, 200817 yr Marvin has to be the worst interview in professional football. Is there another coach in the NFL who is more inept at handling the media? He laughs (nervously) and jokes after humiliating defeats. Then, on a week after a win, he jumps on a reporter because he is holding a grudge over his line of questioning during the last few weeks (BTW, he answered this exact question later in the press conference). He has an arrogance and cockiness that defies logic for a team that is 2-11-1.
December 18, 200817 yr If Marvin is still there next year, we've decided we aren't renewing our tickets....Even if he's gone, we might not, but he's far and away the worst in the league IMO.
December 18, 200817 yr I am so glad that Mike Brown signed Chris Henry and put the last straw on this camel's back and I became a Steelers fan. It has been the most enjoyable NFL season I have had in a long time. Especially loved the Steelers beating the Boys. THat was great. My son and I have set down and had many enjoyable Sundays watching the Steelers together.
