Bell and HHS would be a great game. Keep in mind Bell dismantled Whitley in easier fashion than HHS did. So don't be so hasty in your assumption. Central could not beat either nor could Ft. Campbell although they would be a good test for either.

 

If Whitley or JC could have thrown the ball ANY HHS would have been lucky to escape with a win.

 

How many times did Boyle turn the ball over to Bell....maybe they WERE lucky?

HHS killed Whitley not even a game..JC could not stop the pass if their life depended on it..There is not a team in KY that gives HHS a game besides Trinity and St. X...:ylsuper::ylsuper:

Granted Bell played terrible in the finals but I would think if they faced HHS they would have played at the top of their game in the Final or Semi's however it would have stacked up. They really overlooked BE I belive. Much like HHS overlooked Bryan Station.

I have rarely seen a mountain team be able to stop a multi-dimensional offense. When Bell Co. almost beat HHS in 2004 they were simply a running team. HHS this year could run and throw.. I think the Birds would beat Bell by at least 3 scores..JMO

Before I take a shot at this can someone tell me what changed at Bullitt East from early in the season to the end of the season? After watching them get destoryed by an average at best Henderson Co I was surprised to 1. see them make the final game and 2. see them not get blown out in the final. Was 4A just that weak or did Bullitt East just get that good?

Why are people thinking NCC would be a no brainer? Beechwood lost 31-20 at NCC and rolled up something like 350 total yards to 220. Not saying NCC would not have won again but I think it is far from a no brainer.

Given that five of six were repeat winners......is it also safe to say that your '07 winners would also be the same as above. If so, it could be said that so far, Beechwood and Central have benefitted the most from additional classes.

 

Also, with "diluted" classes, we can expect repeat winners way more often.

I thhink you all are right with the winners. It would have been fun watching and seeing how it worked itself out.

I will agree with all except I would love to see Beechwood and NCC play again. I do think NCC should be favored but I just am not sure they are better than Beechwood this year.

 

I think the other interesting battle ground would be 3A. Highlands vs. Central would be a great one to see.

 

Highlands played them earlier in the year and won 28-0.

Highlands beats Bell and Boyle and wins 3A by 3 td's I watched evey team mentioned play and if they play 10 times Highlands wins 9 out of 10 no matter where the game is played.Bell might have won a couple of more in their past if it wasn't for Highlands. Best thing ever happened for Boyle and Bell is this new classification system.5 A is alot tougher than 4A in my opinion.

If Central is 3A in a six-class format, logic dictates that they would be 2A in a four-class setup. Therefore, in four classes with the playoffs done geographically:

 

4A ... Trinity over St. Xavier

3A ... Highlands over Boyle County

2A ... Central over Breathitt County

A ... Newport Catholic over Danville
