To my knowledge no one 'gives out' rings. Parents buy them or schools buy them. At at least a couple of hundred a pop its not cheap. But I guess a school could secure rings for something other than state.

 

KHSAA gives out $2 meddalions that can be bought off any internet trophy site for state. But you better not have more than 50 players on the team...

Don't expect to get that from a T or X supporter.

PLEASE QUIT COMPLAINING AND GET BETTER -There was a day in 1968 when Trinity decided it was going to have the best football program in the state - We have been focused on that ever since - Maybe if other teams out there would work as hard as Trinity they might get there - While it never gets boring winning state championships it would be wonderful to have some competition. (except St. X)

 

Remember there are 1400 boys at THS that pay $10,000 to attend - That money is all we get to pay for everything. My taxes I pay go to our competition. Every homeowner in Louisville pays taxes to the public school system whether they have children our not - The Jefferson County School's budget is bigger than the city of Louisville's. There is plenty of money just not enough coaches working hard - TRINITY WINS BECAUSE OF COACHING - PLEASE DON"T TELL ANYONE THE SECRET...

Sorry to jump off subject but where can I find the entire list of state titles in all classes? As far as the subject on hand. I feel private vs. private and public vs public.

Ok, let me address a few misnomers here and make a point or two:

 

Off Season Workouts and the "Just get Better" Agreement - In South Central KY, the following teams ALL workout 4 or 5 days (depending on the school) from January 5th on that I know about: Bowling Green, Warren East, Greenwood, Allen Co. and Edmonson Co. Now we are talking about well developed lifting, running, and polymeric agility training. We are not in the dark ages outside of X and T. These kids push their limits in the mat room, weightroom, and track. They morph from a Winter Program to a Spring Program, then to a Summer Program. Believe me; X and T have not discovered something that rest of us don't know about with regards to physical training.

 

Trinity win because of Coaching Agreement - Has anyone noticed that nobody has addressed the facts that Trinity's Head Coach and their OC were both light years form the success they have had at Trinity when they were outside those walls? Curious...

 

T and X develop their kids better and only have a handful of DI-A players each year Argument - Let's take Boyle Co.'s Jeff Duggins here for a sec. Duggins was one of the spearheads of the GREATEST run in KY High School Football History. Where did he end up going? A Very small school folks. Duggins was a great HIGH SCHOOL player, but not someone who drew the attention of a lot of colleges. It is not about having great college prospects at this level. It is about how many good high school players you have. AT most schools, the pick comes from 50-70 kids. AT T and X it comes from 150-170. Is that there fault, no, but don't insinuate that the pool has nothing to do with it.

 

And on a side note…I’m a little disappointed nobody liked my T vs. X Bowl Game idea that I originally started this thread about. To me, I really just wonder if T and X don’t make 6A a bore…that was my original intention of this thread.

Central the past two years appears better than Male , Manual , Ballard & Eastern. These four schools ( not really Ballard) have only whined about things and not gotten better.

I don't think any of those schools are in 6A. Why don't they win state in their respective divisions? They are competing against their peers enrollment wise, correct? Well, that's not correct as it relates to Highlands. So they have a numbers advantage but can't seem to get over the hump.

Cov had limited success at his prior school. I think it would be akin to instituting a spread offense at Belfry. You may want to check Beatty's record at his previous school.

I believe everyone agrees that a larger pool helps. Since we want to be as forthright as possible, let's not forget about Tamme, Overstreet, B. Leffew and T. Leffew during Boyle's magical run. All played D-I and a few are/were in the NFL. More importantly, lets not forget about a gentleman named Chuck Smith. Boyle had great players and a great coach.

Do T and X make 6A a bore or is it someone/something else??? CBS, Maxpreps, PrepNation, USAToday and 39,000 people seem to be fairly intrigued by the schools.

The semifinals were basically the real finals. Trinity won the Catholic title, SK won the Public title and then Trinity won the overall title. If you don't want to figure out a way to compete, then second place is all you are ever going to get. Same holds true in life.

I have watched some bad teams play from Kentucky in my 10 years or so following the game and I do not know of one coach who could turn some of those programs around. Some of those teams who were losing when I first started following ball in Kentucky was losing then and still are now.

 

They said the same thing at Boyle.

All of the 6A schools should gear up for the 2009 season as it looks to be a year that both Trinity and St. X will be retooling more than usual at many positions. Life at Trinity without Tim Phillips and most of the defense will be interesting and I believe a huge challenge for the coaches. At St. X replacing the best RB ever in their program and most of the rest of their team will also prove to be a big challenge. Not that these coaching staffs aren't up to the challenge, just that young and inexperienced players all over the field will be interesting to watch and hard to count on.

If the public powers don't win next year then they never will.

Keep telling yourself that will be the case. Both T & X are Senior dominated teams every year. Both had strong second team players this past season made up primarily of Juniors that got alot of playing time at the end of Varsity games and in JV games. They are already back in the weightroom getting ready for next season.

I have said before with only two schools for the most part winning the giggest class in football that the biggest class is the most boring. Not saying exciting football is not played it's just that end the end only (FOR THE MOST PART) 1 OF 2 WILL BE THE BIG SCHOOL WINNER.

 

I have no clue how to fix this besides saying something stupid like the other schools need to get better. I know if I was smart enough to be a coach my team would not play either of those schools until I was forced to come playoff time.

Are you from Lexington. I believe Lexington schools have made the decision to not play X or T until forced to in the playoffs.

Amen...........dead on with the exception of the Ohio Catholic schools being just a little better than the Louisville Catholic schools. I know the results this season, but the gap is a lot greater than Kentuckians know.
