Where does all this barking pride come from when you are allowed to pick and choose your players? I am not a fan of Trinity or Highlands but I think Highlands accomplishments far outweigh that of Trinity. If Trinity was restricted to those kids who live in St. Matthews alone would they have 19 titles? I doubt it. Not a knock on the Rocks success. It is amazing. But this complete lack of sportsmanship, especially in the first post of the first thread, is rediculous and uncalled for. Like someone said, it's a slap in the face of the teams who won the other 5 championships.

They choose us = not the other way around. And, it has been stated time and again the talent level is often not greater than the schools we play.

In regards to SuperB, Highlands players aren't strictly from Fort Thomas either. They get many big time players that come from other school districts.

Good lordy. You guys just won't leave this alone. Every one that I know realizes that T won't duck anyone. But for some reason some T people won't give Highlands the same respect and they think that Highlands is ducking them. In light of the fact that we've played some very good schools over the years (St. X, Elder, Colerain, etc), can one logically think we are ducking T? Just think about that for a minute and let it register. I know for a fact that Highlands and Trinity had serious discussions about playing next year. Unfortunately due to the lack of common open dates, it could not be done. Dale loves to play the best teams he can and he knows he will should have an extremely good team next year. I think if there was any practical way possible that we could meet next year, Dale would have done so. Enjoy 19. We are enjoying 18 and will again be shooting to tie it up next year, although I'm not one of those Highlands fans that are focused on having more state titles than Trinity. We are quite proud of what we have and are accomplishing, particularly in light of our size. I'm not sure that many T people respect our accomplishments, but I think a lot of other people in the Commonwealth do.

 

 

I think that is the most impressive thing about Highland's football. To play up 2 classes and still win back to back is really quite a feat.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Highlands' 18 state titles is a more impressive feat than Trinity's 19. Highlands has never enjoyed the enrollment advantage over the vast majority of the teams in their class as Trinity has. In fact, some of the Bluebirds' titles have come when they were playing up.

 

To compare the programs, take Trinity and St. Xavier and slice them into three schools of equal size. Then try and tackle Highlands that way ...

I'm not saying that the cost to the families isn't great. The point is a private school has the advantage of being able to get kids from practically anywhere whereas the public schools are restricted to their respective districts. What kid wouldn't take the opportunity to attend a school that has a better than average chance of winning a state championship if offered to them and they could afford it. Its a fact we have to live with but please at least acknowledge this when you start your bragging. Its an unfair advantage, point blank.
