I'm gone for like 2 hours and I missed almost an entire page of posts. I think overall you have to take NKY.

I think Highlands' team this year is excellent, one of their better ones. They would not beat St. X or Trinity. Not this year nor any other year. Sorry. I am a N. Ky. fan but I am trying to be honest on this. When Highlands BEATS one of the top tier large school teams they play, then we can talk. Highlands is a 3A school playing in 5A and fantasizing about beating 6A schools. Good for them and I would love to see it happen. But they aren't there yet. I am afraid 2,000 plus students vs. 700 students is too much to overcome.

 

As to the debate at hand, Trinity and X are head and shoulders above everyone else in the state. Compare the rest of the Louisville schools to N. Ky. and I take N. Ky., even if you throw Highlands out. I would like to see some of the N. Ky. 6A schools play games against Louisville 6A schools (Trinity and X excluded...because we know how those will go).

Indeed they did. I honesty would like to see Trinity and HHS lock horns to open the season regularly, much like we have done with BG recently.

 

Considering the Lexington teams we have use to fill out our schedule I think HHS would be an upgrade for it.

Have to wait until this weekend to choose.

For debate's sake help me fill out the Louisville vs NKY side. I think I havv all of Louisville but I have no clue how I am on NKY.

 

For Louisville I'm only going to include Jefferson Co teams although an arguement can be made for teams like Bullitt East Shelby Co the Oldham Co schools to be in that mix but I won't include them.

Either would be fortunate to escape with a win in most years; but this year especially. That's not bias...it's the honest truth.

 

It's bias...at least re: X and Highlands. X leads the series 5-2 and the last two meetings were decided by a combined 80-21. The two Highlands wins were by a combined 8 points. Overall the series score is 200-86.

 

That's not to take anything at all away from Highlands though, as they are a fantastic program, especially given their size, but the historical head to head results show that in fact, it is Highlands that would be fortunate to escape with a win most years.

 

Overall, I think Louisville has more talent, but it should, given the population. On a per capita basis, NKY probably takes it. Take the best from NKY and match them up against the best from Louisville, and I'll take Louisville. In addition to the X and T boys, I'd pick up Green from Male, Cobble and Wilson from Central, and other guys around the city that don't get much credit.

And Dixie beat Trinity 3 or 4 years back so I guess I have to eat those words. So I will say Highlands would win 2 out 10 versus Trinity/X/GCL (Cincinnati) caliber teams. That is about how it seems to be going.
