A main objective was to force the Hounds into 3rd and long, and make Corbin have to pass, because they definitely prefer to run, and the stats throughout the year read that way. NCC can be a two dimensional team, I'm not sure Corbin can. The kid can scramble though. The Corbin fans were very gracious, and I love the atmosphere. Every high school stadium should be set up like that. I hope that clock gets revamped that was disconcerning.

I don't think the clock handled the cold weather very well, it bothered me because the game was basically over(did not want to leave until it read 0.00 though) and it took additional time to get it straight.

 

I was afraid that NCC would do exactly what they did defensively, maybe Corbin should have used some play action on 1st and 2nd down, but it's only conjecture it that would have worked or not and they just stuck with what they did successfully all year. NCC was a better balanced offensive team for sure.

I'm just guessing, but probably the fact that Corbin has lost out in the playoffs to a private school 4 of the lat 5 years may have something to do with it.

It really meant a lot to him. THANKS! He was injured on Oct 31st and has played all but one game (where he set out) with a great deal of pain. He and the team really wanted this but it is hard to get to state with the injuries our team has sustained this year. Our back field was virtually depleted. So, like the NCC parents, staff and players told Caleb . . . Fight back and we'll see you next year. Good luck in Louisville next week. And just wait 'till next year.

Funny story, when I played at Raceland, we played Ashland, their leading rusher was named Chris Hutt. On defense, when we saw a "Tell", we couldn't scream Hutt, we had to scream, or say, his number.

I want to thank Corbin for their excellent hospitality. I was especially impressed with the very sweet woman at the front gate. When I came in she showed me where the restrooms, visitors section, and concession stands were. Very, very nice. I used to go to school at Cumberland and I knew that it would be a classy experience all around.

I don't like the outcome one bit but just as last year, the NCC faithful were all class. I hope everyone was treated as good as we were last season. You all have a fine program and one that I respect greatly. The kids and coach Schneider are pure class. I just hope we get to beat you all next year if we play. Good luck and bring home state. If we can't be the champs, I want the champs to be the team to knock us out. Good luck.

Other than the Leslie game, I think we passed for the first time all season on 1st down. I thought all through the playoffs that we should have shown a pass or tewo here and there on 1st down. that would allow a playaction or and actual pass in the big games..........JMO

This has been discussed many times on the public/private forum. In a nutshell, I just believe all teams should be on an even field, and right now they are not. It's not your fault or the kids from NCC. I have no problem at all with any of the kids from NCC or any private school student. It's just ashame that the KHSAA permits what goes on. I don't want to get into a public/private debate right now, so this is the last I'll comment on this.

 

Bottom line, privates try to get some of our better players with no penalty. If we try to encourage a kid outside our district to attend Corbin....we're in trouble.

 

Before you say Corbin is independent......we are, but it just doesn't work the same. Laurel Co. will allow students to attend Corbin but not student/athletes. And they do have to pay tuition if attending out of district.

IF our defense did call hut (which I very seriously doubt) you probably weren't there to hear it. We have not been called or warned of any thing close to that on the season. either way, it wouldn't have had an affect to the outcome of the game, if you know when it happened. Nor would the issues with the clock.
