We must have watched different games. NCC was just a better team. I don't think anyone laid down.

The answer to your question is we still would have lost, New Cath was and would still have been the better football team. Why is it that around 50 or so kids can be there 6 days a week and 5 hours a day and others can't it is simple they in my mine are kids that want to and are football players, the kids that you mentioned above are not they are and always have been basketball players and i'm sure that they devote as much or more time to their sport as the football players do. So lets not play the card that the football coaches are to demanding and make the kids put to much time in to play football. Football is a tough sport to play anyone can shoot a basketball or hit a baseball or kick a soccer ball but it takes special kids to play the tough and physical game of football.

 

You must be kidding!!! Kids don't play different sports for a variety of reasons, but to suggest that anyone can play basketball, soccer, or baseball is just plain silly. I guess anyone can a hit a golf ball too. That's why there are so many Tiger Woods out there.

It wasn't just ONE player that is what I am trying to say. It hurt us in this game. It would've been a whole different ball game if EVERYONE was healthy. Trust me on this one.

 

That goes both ways. NewCath hasn't exactly led a charmed life this year. Lots of walking wounded.

Taking Watkins and Fritts out of Corbin's lineup would be like taking Kuess & Kelly out of NCC's.

 

I really felt like the game was much closer than a 19 point game. Corbin would not normally go for it on 4th and 28 deep in their own territory after the holding penalty negated the first down, which led to NCC's last drive and score of under 20 yards. Even that score did not come easily as Corbin held 3 on the first three downs inside the 3 yd. line only to have the pass on 4th down get deflected by a Redhound lineman only to ricochet to a NCC player in the endzone. The 3rd TD was set up by a Corbin penalty on 3rd and very long as well, but I realize that winning teams don't make these kind of critical mistakes. Corbin's margin of error was not as great as NCC's and could not afford to make such mistakes.

Caleb Watkins provided speed and power, at 50% he didn't have the speed to break away. Without a doubt, if he was at 100% he would have been the fastest player on the field last Friday. Hopefully he gets the chance to show that speed against the 'breds next season.

 

Campbell, fast for a young man his size, was amazing all season. My son described him best.....when you try to tackle him, you just bounce off or hold on and he takes you for a ride. Not sure why he wasn't used.

 

Ryan Fritts was injured about half way through the season. He is a Barry Sanders type runner. I'm not saying that he is anywhere close to Barry Sanders, just that type, stop, juke, juke, stop, sprint. It was obvious that we missed him against the better teams.

 

Campbell is a senior, Watkins and Fritts will be back with Taylor. Foley should also be recovered from ankle surgery. Most seem to have forgot his defensive play, he will probably be a force on offense as well.

It wouldn't matter who was healthy NewCath was the better team and would have won by 2 touchdowns either way. Mark Kelly was the best player on the field Friday and still would have been if everyone was healthy, he beat yoiu last year and did it again this year just be glad he is graduating but keep in mind the Kelly who score the 2nd touchdown is his younger brother who is a sophomore who is very, very good. I don't mean to sound frustrated but campbellfield seems to just make excuses, you have a very good program with players who play hard with a lot of heart and i commend them for it and I wish your team the best of luck.
