Kues has great vision with the option read and you are right that's what makes this offense go.

If that is true, then the ref made a big boo boo, because it should have been a warning first. They also missed a big call when a NCC player climbed Taylor's back on a passing play.

 

:irked: I hope the refs do a better job in the championship game so there are no complaints afterwards, I'd hat to see the winning team cheated out of the deserved praise for what was accomplished on the football field.

You guys played the game the way it's supposed to be played, you guys came together early as a team and showed what teamwork can do. I'm proud of all you guys.

 

NCC put a meaningless TD in after Corbin went for it on 4th and about 20 inside the Corbin 20 to make the final margin 26-7. The NCC defense was better than I expected. Good win for the 'breds, but I will be pulling for the Falcon's next week.

There are no meaningless touchdowns when you are playing a team the caliber of Corbin

No one is saying that we were cheated out of the game. But for a ref to call an unsportsmanlike penalty on a player when he is only calling out a defensive formation is not real good. What do you think?

 

NCC's coach said, "I thought our defense really stepped up in the second half, we did a good job in not allowing their running backs to have a big play." NCC's D was very good, but our running game was not there because you simply can't run the ball on one good foot. When Watkins reinjured his foot last week we knew this week would be real rough and then in the first half he turned it again, he basically was finished then and probably should not have played offense the second half at all. Campbell only carried the ball 4 times for 14 yards. Watkins carried it 14 times and I would say in his condition that was 10 times too many. But its over and the best team won. NCC's O and D lines dominated the game. They are big and very good.

 

Good luck to NCC next week. More than likely we will meet again next year.

Key word there it seems to me is, "disconcerting".

I don't blame you for being disgusted and disillusioned about this call maybe the ref was being disingenuous when he thought that the Corbin player was being disconcerting .

Some of the Newcath O-linemen said Corbins D were making dummie "hut" calls and mentioned it to the ref. When the ref heard it himself he went ahead and threw the flag. But there's no telling what was really being said on the field, with all the calls being made on both sides of the ball.

It was just bad timing for Corbin and the only time it was called all year against them, it may have been the right call though. It was odd that the 4 players who jumped offsides for NCC were the ones the farthest from the player who had the penalty called on him and none of the OL jumped on that play.

 

It was a well called game overall, but no crew is perfect. That drive pretty much put it out of reach, which makes it a little frustrating if you were a Corbin fan.

I believe that there has been plenty of praise from the Redhound fans for the NewCath team and staff. Everyone that I have talked to thinks the better team won. sometimes we still like to play the old "iffin" game, as Jerry Claiborne used to call it. Good luck next week!
