Great season WC. Was a season that this program can build on for years to come.

The play of the game IMO was in the 1st quarter with Whitley leading 8-7, Highlands converts a 3rd and 13 to Collinsworth on a GREAT catch around midfield. Birds scored a few plays later and took all the momentum from Whitley.

 

Whitley fumbled at least 3 times and 2 of those were on 4th and short. They had the inside trap going early but way too much Highlands overall.

We stopped but unfortunately is wasn't exit 104:D Great time!!!! I won't have to go to the gym in the morning since i got my ab routine in by laughing so much.

The Colonels were no match for the Birds. Highlands are well coached and have good team speed like most top ranked teams do. Whitley needs to play better teams like Bell Co. to get ready for post season next year. Same thing happen to Lone Oak last year.

 

 

I thought they did play Bell this year and also thought the schedule was fairly demanding. You want to play demanding, but you also do not want to get too sadistic with your scheduling and get too roughed up to play a post season.

Before LN gets on here and says "we where lucky and played sloppy" I want to mention some things.

The run /pass game was split down the middle with yardage,probably close to 200 yards each.We scored everytime we had the ball in the 1st half.

Defense gave up some big plays but seemed to make it up by causing turnovers.We have played tough running teams the last 3 weeks and have got to be a little worn down.

I think we are ready for Louisville and primed to bring home #18

Had the binocs on him and it looked like a great "discussion"!!! It was just what the doctor ordered and perfect timing.

Looks like HH had a lot easier time with Whitley than Johnson Central.

Not surprised by this score. Every week some get on here and talk about Highlands better not overlook them and every week it's the same story. Highlands is primed to win #18. IMO their toughest game was the region final.

 

Go Birds!!! Bring #18 back to Caketown!!

Big congratulations to both teams. Birds, you got it done and are moving on to Louisville. Simply fantastic.

 

Colonels, you had a great season; an historic season. A big tip of my Highlands' hat to the coaches, players, administration and fans of the Whitley program. Keep it going next year and do not be content with what was accomplished this year.

 

I want to make a point of specifically pointing out the welcome we were given by the Whitley school administation. They were very gracious hosts. And I love the football field facility layout. Their AD was just fantastic to work with. If Mike isn't on here, I hope folks on here from Whitley will again let him know how appreciative we are to him and the Whitley school system. Thank you.

 

But back to the Birds for a moment (and then I have to go walk the dogs) I'm very proud of the way you have played tough and responded to good football teams during the playoffs, with the last two being on the road. There's one more little road trip left this year. Christian County is the real deal and they aren't going to be content to just make it to PJS. They are in it to win it. They like every other team you've faced this year will be really up to play you. Focus starting immediately on winning state. You can celebrate and enjoy last night's win after the state game.
