Wanted to get back on here and offer a big CONGRATULATIONS to the Birds on the game! I also want to give a shout out to the Colonels and their fans. Great atmosphere for the game last night. I was really impressed with the signs, tunnel, balloons, fireworks, etc. Keep building on what you've accomplished. Birds, stay focused on what you need to do to bring home the hardware Friday.

 

The Colonels are already looking forward to coming to YOUR house Next Year!! Would it be great if this could develop into a nice rivalry!!

Love the facilities at Whitley Co. The layout is excellent. The hospitality of the Whitley County folks was great. I loved the signs on the exits ramp and on the road to the school.

I also want to add my thanks to Mike Campbell Whitley's AD for his hospitality. Whitley was definately the nicest place we have had the pleasure of traveling to with fan buses. The arrangements could not have been better.

Hopefully the scoreboard problem will be fixed in the next two years as the Colonels will be renovating their current staduim to add turf, more seating, concession facilities, more seating and a new scoreboard.

 

Mike Campbell, does a great job as AD, and he loves the football team. He is a coach at heart and loves to see the kids have the success that they have had this season.

 

After consecutive 2 wins seasons, the school, and the community really got behind this team. The senior class has persevered and has been leaders. It was great to see the spirit tunnel, but the best part was the lobby of the school decorated with posters and painted in all Black and Red.

 

Highlands sets a high standard for all the football teams in Kentucky, and Whitley's Senior class has set a high standard for future colonel teams. I look forward to next August when the Colonels once again return to the field.

 

To Highlands players: Good Luck at Papa Johns!!!!

 

To the Whitley Players: What a great season you had, never forget what it means to be a Colonel. Each one of you made our school proud!!! You never gave up and never gave in.

Thx for the compliments on the Birds and the good wishes for the finals. Looks like Whitley has a ton returning and should be very good again. I heard that Pulaski has a lot returning also, so that region should be loaded. Johnson Central also has a lot returning, as does Highlands. Wouldn't be the least surprised to see those four teams matching up again to see who makes it to the semi finals. Good luck to Whitley next year.:thumb:

According to other stats that I have seen, Highlands had 196 yards rushing and 187 yards passing for a total of 383 yards of offense.

383 seems about right. Nice balance. (And a pretty good engine in the old days.) The only other stat I saw was 42-16.:ylsuper:
