December 5, 200817 yr Minmum 15 yrs. Eligible for parole after 5 but will spend atleast 8-10 years in prison. Still waiting for a link. Just saw it on ESPN.
December 5, 200817 yr Author 18 years in prison for OJ.... Roger Cossack, ESPN Legal Analyst, thinks he'll spend atleast 8-10 in prison. The majority of his counts are concurrent which means they run together at the same time. It's the consecutive ones that the judge really came down on him hard with. He got a minimum 15 with eligibilty of parole after 5 but the consecutive sentences are the reason he'll spend atleast 8-10. He could serve up to 23 years though.
December 5, 200817 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=3747669 LAS VEGAS -- O.J. Simpson was sentenced Friday to a minimum of 15 years in prison for the gunpoint robbery and kidnapping of two sports memorabilia dealers. Simpson, 61, will not be eligible for parole for five years. A jury on Oct. 3 convicted Simpson and Clarence "C.J" Stewart of a multitude of charges against them in the Sept. 13, 2007, confrontation with the dealers at a Las Vegas casino hotel room. In handing down her decision, Clark County District Judge Jackie Glass said the evidence against Simpson -- all of which was presented on tape to a jury -- was "overwhelming." Simpson, his voice quivering at times, apologized to the court prior to his sentencing and said his only intention that night was to retrieve personal items, family photos and sports mementos that he said had been stolen from him years earlier. "I didn't mean to steal from everybody," Simpson said.
December 5, 200817 yr If you take the name and face out of this trial and compare this sentence across america, you will find this sentence to be a little harsh. So OJ was not sentenced to the crime he committed last year. He was sentence for murder.

So OJ was not sentenced to the crime he committed last year. He was sentence for murder. I agree. I think he deserves it but I have seen rapists get out in 3-5 yrs. He didnt help himself in his last ditch effort asking for leniency either.

This sentence sounds about right for kidnapping, and robbing someone at gunpoint.

December 5, 200817 yr Author Do you have any links to websites about sentencing stats? This sentence sounds about right for kidnapping, and robbing someone at gunpoint. Kidnapping is punishable by 5 years to life in prison. Armed Robbery carries a mandatory sentence of atleast 2 years in prison. I do have a problem with the fact that rapists get out earlier than OJ will. I really think the sentence had a lot to do with his past record, which in some ways is unjust considering he was aquitted for it.
December 5, 200817 yr I hope he continues the search for the murder in prison. I think he got to check all the golf courses. Also, he can be the old guy (coach/player) on Michael Vick's Mean Machine Team. Soon they'll have a good wide receiver joining them too!
