December 2, 200817 yr "I’m here to tell you, that I’m committed to the University of Cincinnati," Kelly said. Also, "All I can say is, with all the speculation and the jobs that are out there, sometime or later, no means no. No one ever speaks in terms of forever and forever. There’s been a lot of interest in my services, but I want to be here at the University of Cincinnati for the right reasons." * Mike Thomas said Nippert is being expanded. http://www.thelotd.com/ctrent/blog/2008/12/02/brian_kelly_says_hes_staying

December 2, 200817 yr Scene: In the back of the room. Character: Anonymous voice Line: You sound just like Bobby Petrino! That's what is so difficult about any of these pressers in which a coach says xyz, I'm committed to this job, this school. We then see them a short time later at another school. I would love to take Brian at his word, but we all know it's a business.
December 2, 200817 yr Here's a story that goes into a little more depth and talks about the planned renovations. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20081202/SPT0101/312020081/-1/NLETTER06?source=nletter-breakingnews
December 2, 200817 yr Author If Notre Dame offers him the job he's gone. You know that...... After what went down this morning I'm not so sure now. It would never surprise me if he left for ND, but with Wyler really behind him he just might be here a while. Last time that happened Huggs was here 14 years...

December 2, 200817 yr Author That helped ease my mind a bit. From what I've been told he has been in Nancy's ear for a few days telling her she needed to do whatever it takes to keep him...
December 2, 200817 yr Any coach that gets himself and his school established in the Big East is in a great spot, IMO...the conference is ripe for someone to step up and claim supremacy and if you can do that, its a guaranteed BCS spot every year and possible title shot on the right year. I think some of these coaches need to think a little harder about their current situation instead of just leaping to the next job because of the school's name. Maybe Kelly realizes that...especially if the school has really committed to him and the football program. Of course, maybe the school itself realizes the opportunity they have to establish themselves as the Big East frontrunner and BCS Bowl regular and they want to commit to the football team. Just a thought... We've already been through the discussion that "tradition" isn't as big a draw as it once was in the UK threads. Notre Dame's tradition doesn't guarantee success either.

Agreed. I can't imagine that an undefeated Big East team (or Big 10 or Pac-10, to name a few) would ever be kept out of the Nat'l Title, no matter how weak the conference is that year.
December 2, 200817 yr If he does stay then I have a lot of respect for Kelly. He has really done things the right way in Cinci and feels that with what he has he can build not only a BCS team but perhaps even a Title game contending team in the coming years. I admire a coach who is willing to stay and try to take a team he has built over the top rather than bouncing once he has reached the top of the summit, ala Urban Meyer, however his move has worked out for him quite well.
December 2, 200817 yr You have to admire how BK plays the game. He has a meeting schedule today and wouldn't you know it up pops comments in the morning paper with him saying he has lots of interested schools on the table. Like I always say, if you have the big stick use it. Note: I don't believe for a second that this ends any speculation about him and other jobs.

December 2, 200817 yr I think it would have happened this year (unless UC won at OU). I was unclear. I meant to say undefeated overall, not just in-conference. Regardless of how weak the schedule was (both OOC and how weak the conference was).
