Keep them coming boys, make sure you list their vitals. We are really interested in JRs and Sophomores...

It is a very small amount in the process. If the schedual was such a big issue college coaches would be asking for several game films but they don't. typically they want 1 full game and maybe a highlight film then they want the kid to come to their camp. At the camp, when they are face to face, is when they draw an opinion. The camps are the number one tool that schools use to evaluate a player's ability not their high school schedual. I would encouarge every high school player that wants to get noticed to attend as many camps as they can.

Good advice.:thumb:

Shane Pack from Lawrence Co has the leg to be a D-1 punter I think. If he puts in the work this off season then I feel like he's got a good chance to kick D-1.

WOW nine HHS players going on to D1 :scared: and to think the entire CovCath 2006 state champions only had one D1 player! Darn if Coach R wasn't a better coach than even I thought he was!

You are surprised they are claiming "9"? Heck, I expected them to claim every player on both sides of the ball, a couple of subs, most of the coaching staff, and a couple of cheerleaders. ;)

Who is counting nine????? Five tops...

Rico Brown from Madison Southern has been getting looks from Louisville, Purdue, and Western. He had a good year considering Southern struggled. Rico runs a legit 4.5 and squats 400 pounds. He should have a good year next year, and many college coaches say he would be a fine DB. Also, this young man is an honors student and is very intellegent on the football field.

Go back and count. Posts #7 (six in this one alone), 14, 20, and 33 - total of nine players listed. And I'm sure there will be more added.

Of course, we're up to 9 Highlands players listed in this thread as "legit" D-1 prospects. Maybe they are. Heck, I hope they all do go D-1. I have nothing whatsoever against Highlands (unless they're playing Ryle ;)). But not every quality player at Highlands - and indeed there are a lot of them - automatically qualifies as a D-1 candidate.

And, yes, I'm quite aware that D-1 encompasses more than the BCS schools.

Obviously, I don't know because I haven't seen them. Just saying it doesn't seem that far fetched to me that HHS would have 5-6 D1 prospects on its roster...not just its senior class. As for the nine, I was only responding to the one post that listed 5 or 6.

What is the most D1 players HHS has ever had at one time?

How many D1 players do they typically have in any four year period?

Does a kid have to get a scholarship to be considered a "prospect"? What about players who get to walk-on? Sometimes they turn out to be good players...and obviously the school has to like something about them to let them walk on.

Senior OL/DT Steven Van Name of Ryle is also getting some legitimate D1 looks. Big, strong kid - 6' 3", 300+ pounds - who anchored the offensive line this year and also played both ways late in the year and did a killer job on defensive line. He will be greatly missed on next year's team.

Well, certainly my impression of this thread was that it was to list those kids that have legititmate D1 scholarship opportunities, not just list every single kid that has an outside chance to walk on.

Quan Weaver Jr RB/LB

Not sure on weight lifting stats but he is a bull. Legit 4.4 kid who runs with both power and speed.

Rushed for over 2,000 yds this year with close to 30 TD's and his all purpose numbers put him at around 2,500.

Except for Beechwood, I dont think that anyone really kept him in check and he was close to 100 against the tigers top ranked run defense.

Right now he is getting looks from both UK & UL.

Quan was over 100 yds. against Beechwood per Coach Buckett. He is a good one. :thumb:

Camps are important, i agree, but schools don't want to see highlight films. They want to see what you do when you don't have the ball or the play is away from you. Anyone can look good when you play poor competition, so competition is important!

Coaches that I talk with, all say much the same thing regarding video. They want to see 3-4 minutes of skills, not so much game footage but ability in area, the player is wanting to showcase.

Videos, bios and information are aspects that Coaches use to evaluate, along with direct observation/evaluation.
