D1 prospects in the state of Kentucky Regardless of Class

Featured Replies

agree Collinsworth is the real deal and posibly the QB from Highlands. Everyone else on the list are good HS football players who can maybe play somewhere small. As for the the top list they play noboby very good so it's hard to say if they can play D1 or not, also probably a small school in their future.

Welz and Grubbs will garner D1 offers on size alone! Plus playing for a perennial championship contender, plus A LOT of film is circulating out there due to AC and Roller getting big time looks. Don't be surprised!

Besides...won't this be Dale's biggest, fastest, strongest, most athletic team of all time??? (lol)

Beechwood's Dominic Maniello already has a D1 scholarship (Central Michigan?). Also getting some D1 interest are Neico Teipel and Brady Slusher. They both have visited at Louisville. As to others mentioned already, I will be surprised if Collinsworth, Miles Simpson and Quan Weaver aren't D1 players.

In NKY I can guarantee that Simpson will have a broad list of Division one offers, the question will be which team, and what position. Vitals: 6'2", 195 lbs, with a frame to add some extra weight. If he get's past the 2nd level you can almost guarantee six points. On defense, he's bound to make a bone jarring hit, knocking out at least two players in '08.

Nick West from Conner, he has the size, is very accurate, can run (beat Ryle with one leg), and has the intangibles that I love in a player. The kid has all the tools, I'm not saying he's a major D1 guy but I believe he could make it at one of the 100 or so schools that participate.

Adam Collinsworth, haven't seen him, but from what I've heard/read, he's the real deal, plus he has the size, speed and pedigree that will go a long way when it comes to recruiting. If you are 6'2", and have speed, and play for a very tradition based program I think it's a no doubter.

Charles Quainoo from Boone is a nice player, a tough player but outside of Alexander, Boone hasn't had any other division one RBs to my knowledge (from the mid '80s). I could see 1AA, or whatever it's called being a good fit but another 2000 yard season may put him over the edge.

Highlands Juniors:

Austin Collinsworth 6-2 184 WR-DB

Tyler Grubbs 6-6 286 OT

Brandon Roller 6-1 219 LB-TE

Kyle Welz 6-6 243 TE-OT-DL

Will Bardo 6-4 186 QB-DB

Hunter Schlosser 6-0 260 OL

HHS has a nice track record with D1 scholarships, the best in NKY since he's been at the helm. I haven't seen any of the above, but it looks like the above have some nice size, and I'm sure they are athletic but you don't see many 6'/260 OL on the college level.

Good to hear about Tiepel getting some looks. I believe I read an article where his coach stated he really wasn't getting the looks they expected at all. This was a while back so I'm glad things picked up for him.

I would say 5 of the 6 could be..

College prospects, yes. D1? That might be a stretch for all of them when you consider where the seniors from the 2007 state championship team went to play.

:laugh:Cute.

This is going to be interesting if everyone stats the facts.

Please list Players, the school they attend, the class, the position and the vitals of each player you feel is a DI prospect:

Tim Patterson from Louisville Central 6'5" 225 4.6-40 MLB lead team in tackles the past two years along side two uk signees (Mister Cobble and Ridge Wilson), he is already listed on rivals 150 in the nation, will be a senior next year.

Please lists other top prospects and their vitals.

I heard there is a lot of DI talent in state these upcoming years:ylsuper::thumb::D

Lou.Central has a WR 5'10 4.3-40 Stephon Robinson that has been offered by Illinois

Channing Fugate, Breathitt County

Channing Fugate, Breathitt County

What are his vitals?

I think an OL of Bell County, JR Mike Howard has a chance to play D1. and also SR kicker Monte Merrick already has a couple offers.

# 61 Randen Collett (6'2 275 JR DT) Leslie Co. High School

Stats: 74 Tackles (42 Solo) 21 Tackles for Loss, 8 FF, 2 FR, 4 Sacks

Squat:(505-Parallel ) Hang Clean:(295) Power Clean: (285 ) Bench: (305)

40 Time: (5.16) Shuttle time:(4.29) Great Finisher, Nose for the ball.

-Randen had a excellent season despite being the focal point of the opponents offense. Double and triple teamed every play. Started on a defense that included 6 freshmen. Not alot of help.

-Looks to be close to 300lbs after winter lifting season. Wants to have his squat around close to 600(parallel), and both his clean numbers over 300. Wants to get his 40 time around 5.0.

Lexington Lafayette

Eric Shaw 5' 11" 195lb RB/WR/OLB/SS

4.5 40

38 inch vertical

Father played in NFL!

Burt Mingey 6' 9" 330lb OT

#5 Larry Sullivan Jr.

Trimble County Raiders

5'10" 215 QB/RB/WR

118 carries for 1150+ This year alone

This Young man would make an awesome RB for Purdue, IU, Kentucky even Louisville, needs just one more step of speed and he would be unbelievable. Problem here is that he did not recieve the publicity that guys like Duece and Teipel got, but any of the recruiting/coaching staffs from these schools would be foolish to not look closely at his rushing capabilities. He sees the field very well explodes thru the whole and never went down on the initial hit.He also rushed for 1150+ yards with no line and starting 7 yards deep 90% of the time. Give this kid Teipel or Duece's O line and he would have rushed for 2000+ with out a doubt. Someone should be sending his tapes to every D1 Coach in the Tri-State Area.Good luck to this young man in his future. :thumb:

I think ya'll are talking about Juniors and Sophomores; however, has Van Sant from Cov. Cath. been offered anything yet?
